Anybody winning with baseball right now?
I'm sticking to my typical formula -- a lot of dogs, and predominantly short ones at home -- but I'm getting absolutely crushed. I figured late August and early September would be a time for the + teams, and while it seems to be for the games I don't play, the ones I do hardly ever cash. Need to just pull the plug and concentrate on foots, but A) I'm a very competitive person and hate when a sport gets the best of me, B) I'm an action junkie, which means baseball still buys time between football games, and C) I'm a degen, plain and simple.

Struggling like hell right now, though, and have been for a few weeks. Anyone actually in the black recently?

I was until I took Phils yesterday and Bosox today.... All my work during the week was crushed in two days. Thankfully I did well in college so I'm still up.

Been a real tough stretch for doggs on the diamond, particularly the big ones. It seems like the Phils and Yanx win every day and teams like Seattle, Baltimore, Houston and San Diego lose every day. Tough sledding for sure - I'm on a 3 week losing streak playing the right side of the column. 0-4s and 0-5s haven't been uncommon during the run.....wrong place/wrong time to be takin' shots in the bases I guess.

Not doing good right now either. Books are playing mind games with us no coin. I was actually killing mlb early season. Opposite of last year. Doesn't bother me though. Variance will catch up. I will kill the playoffs like usual where I am ready for the unexpected because I expect it after years of watching playoffs. Nothing fazes me. Been there done that.

Hope I have enough left in the tank to prove you right LB.

I went 5-1 on Saturday with college football, and flushed every red cent of that profit on baseball the past two days -- and then some.

One reason I love baseball is that the effect of errors is minimal compared to football, where an interception or fumble is often the spread beater. Some general thoughts. In the past couple of seasons football has taken away my attention from hockey. A mistake. Hockey is great because each team shoots around 20 to 30 times. Compare that to 5 or 10 times in soccer... Wherever the effect of luck and bad luck is minimized, it is easier to maintain consistency as a bettor. That is one reason why football f*cks up so many players. The luck factor is huge, and easily is the difference between a 52% or 60% ATS season (because the number of games is very low compared to the other big sports). Of course, when you're lucky you think your reads are great, and when you're unlucky you're blaming it on the players on the field... Football has its place, but to put it at the top of the betting pyramid may not be the smartest thing. Why do you think books try to get everybody on board for football?

I usually suck at baseball but I went 7-0 yesterday. The 2 days prior to that were losing days (one big) and the 8 days prior to that were all +

Good stuff there. I've developed the same theory about football through the years. This is the first year I've stuck through baseball the entire season (up to this point) and I believe this sport can be beat in the long term. I've kept my head above water with others' help and some capping of my own. Had a good run the last three weeks or so but I fear that these games are going to be harder to cap as we get into the truly meaningless game stretch. Maybe totals is the way to go up until the playoffs? It's been interesting to watch the trends as we have gone through phases of the season.

Good insight about hockey. Don't know how to cap it so I would be 100% tailing. To me, hoops is most frustrating. I actually started fading myself in NCAA hoops for kicks late last year in the regular season out of frustration and did ok with small stakes; although, I know it's not a viable strategy so I won't go back there!

After playing MLs exclusively in baseball, I wonder if it would be better to play only MLs in football as well? Anyone try this approach?

No coin, keep playing just lower your wager size for baseball. Except for fading the Phillies tonight, as I made a vodoo doll of Worley for you and his arm will be very tired by the third inning.

Doesn't bother me though. Variance will catch up. I will kill the playoffs like usual where I am ready for the unexpected because I expect it after years of watching playoffs. Nothing fazes me. Been there done that.
How are they playing games with baseball? The only whey they could do that is if they who the winner is before the game starts.

Over the past few months, road favorites have been KILLING it. I have pretty much been running a blind system on baseball (along with my own picks, ofcourse) and betting a few units on every road favorite. I have been making a ridiculous amount, and i plan on riding this system until it is clear that the streak stops. I know its silly betting on just road favorites, especially when home dogs are usually a great bet, but for some reason this year, the favorites have been doing great. Im hoping i can ride out this system throughout sept, since thats usually the toughest month to win.

Nothing over the top. http://contests.covers.com/Sportscon...1738&sportid=5 One reason I love baseball is that the effect of errors is minimal compared to football, where an interception or fumble is often the spread beater.
You realize that Covers grades all baseball totals as -110, right? So someone could simply take the heavily favored totals all the time and get a great price (-110), and falsely claim to be generating a "profitable grind" in real life MLB betting. That someone is you. Congrats. Time well spent. If you want to track the actual performance of your picks with real lines, try Bigguy or Line.

they are making lines to stop people from betting on certain teams. like yanks tt over 5 is almost cash every night but it starts off juiced under. hard to understand unless you watch lines.

I love the action also no coin but I am a little too consertive anyway stay with it you will be OK. I got off to a bad start in baseball down about -40 units early July....took about 10 days off (very hard on me) picked up again on July 23 rd and now up + 80 units. It is a lot of work but gotta love it.!! Best of luck.!
