Why not? Porcello hasn't proven he can get anyone out much recently, he has an ERA of 6 at home this year, and he's given up 10 ER on 21 hits vs. KC at home in his last two starts.

I wouldn't lay -150 on the Tigers if you held a gun to my head. Royals might win this game. Only reason I wouldn't take them is their bullpen's penchant for collapse lately.

As for Detroit's bullpen, yes, it's been better lately. Still sub-par, though. Valverde has saved it from being in the bottom half of the league overall, to put it mildly.

Velverde has given up 45 hits, 5 HR, and 31 walks in 58 IP. He is having a lucky, abielt fantastic year. Closers who put runners on and pitch to contact are gascan waiting to explode. Coke is okay, and Benoit is good. Ryan Perry is trash, garbage, whatever...he is horrible. Idc what he has done in his last 7 IP. Porcello has an ERA of 6.00 at home. He may pitch well today, but betting on the "he's due" theory is a great way to go broke.

I'm not betting on the game, and as I said taking KC because of Porcello could work out.

I noted Perry's 7 innings because that's since he's returned from the minors. He's actually looked pretty good.

I can see why NC chose this play. I just can't see pinning it on the Tigers bullpen right now.
