While I understand your motivation behind taking them tonight, remember that YoGa's only given up 4 ER in his last 28 IP, and has only walked a total of 4 batters in his last 6 starts -- a huge stat given his penchant for control problems in the past. Also, he's surrendered just 2 ER in his last 15 IP vs. StL -- a sign he might have finally turned the corner and exorcised his Cardinal demons.

Carpenter, meanwhile, has allowed 25 runs in his last 19 IP vs. Milwaukee. That's twenty-five runs, folks.

Just some stats to chew on.

25 ER in 19 IP sounds like a dream for Carmona.

Carpenter is trash. Brewers win the central easily this year.

Cardinals would be really screwed if they lose tonight. I would call this game, almost a "must win." Didn't bet on them today, but rooting for them as a fan. Let's go Cards.

The Cardinals weren't "motivated" to win the first two games of this pivotal series at home Sawyer?

Cards looking good now. YoGa reverts back to his old form, and Carp's in a groove after that first inning.

I watched the last two starts YoGa made vs. StL and he looked like he'd finally figured this lineup out. He was awesome against them back in May.

No point really -- just saying that given Gallardo's recent performances vs. StL and his recent form period, along with Carp's last 5 starts vs. MIL, made it impossible for me to back the Cards tonight. Then again, I was wrong on every game this series, so I suppose it was fitting I closed with the "sweep" tonight.

dont get me wrong i was scared, more about Carp/pen vs mil bats than Cards not scoring honestly, but i pretty much put myself into the position of being determined to get a W with these assholes seeing how i had every total pegged (until today i liked over) but was busy being a fan and betting Cards last 2 days instead.

As dumb as this sounds, I honestly just felt like Gallardo was due for a bad outing. Yovani is good but he has never been consistent.
