Yikes. DBacks are awful. I'll wire you a $100 if they make the series. If they don't, you wire me $40. : )

I picked Indians over Dodgers before the season. How's that looking?
Angels over Phillies.

I'll shave my eyebrows and get a tattoo that says "Ballz" on my forehead if the Phillies make it to the World Series.

Not that I completely disagree with either of you, but there's not much to pick from in the NL. The Cubs are a very flawed team, 'Zona's offense doesn't appear worthy of a pennant-winning team, the loss of Smoltz doomed the Braves, the backend of Milwaukee's rotation is shaky, while the bullpen is even worse, the Cardinals success going forward is dependent on getting Wainwright back and hoping Carpenter returns and gives them something. And don't even bring up the Mets.
The Phils, as flawed as they are, are a contender in the NL basically by process of elimination. I would give them almost no chance in the AL, but it wouldn't shock me to see them win the NL pennant.

ryan why even bring up the Braves and the Mets when the Marlins are clearly the better/hotter team?
Not saying the Marlins have a better chance than the Phillies but it's July and the Marlins are a .5 game behind Philly.

my bad.
I meant rjt.
anyway, Marlins won't hang? At what point are they a legitimate threat to win the NL East? Late September? We're past the halfway mark bro.

I didn't bring up the Mets, I eliminated them altogether, which is more flattering than omitting the Fish.
Phils +72 run differential, compared with the Marlins -17, suggests the gap between Philly and Florida is much bigger than the 1/2 game difference reflects, and this is something that's likely to show in the standings over the course of 162 games. I'd make the Phils a substantial favorite to win the NL East, while the Marlins are probably more likely to finish 4th in the division than 1st. It's also unlikely the wildcard will come from that division. Doesn't mean the Marlins aren't a fun team to watch with a bright future, but they're not winning the NL this season.
