I know the betting public likes the Yanks, but how can people back them in this spot? AJ Burnett is trash and Haren is one of the best pitchers in the league.

Angels in order to make the playoffs pretty much have to win the West...they are 7 GB of the Yanks in the wild card.

Haren has a history of limping to the finish line. I think today could be the start of his usual late season decline. With that said, Burnett is a gascan and should give up at least 4 to 6 runs while he's in. I would lean slightly towards the Angels but with Haren's inevitable late season regression can also see why the odds are +108 for the Angels.

Angels struggle to score and that should keep the game within range for the Yankees. Haren could pitch great, but a team like the Yankees could go off and score ++runs at any given time.

A common conundrum when considering betting against the bad guys. Not always a great idea... Even when it is.

Haren is more comfortable with lefties (they hit .219 vs him). The big guns cano/granderson and switch hitters swisher/teix will not have success against him. Burnett is flakey. If he gives up walks, even trash offenses will jump on him. If the pitch count goes high for Haren, advantage: Yankees. I guess the half-game outcome is more predictable.
