Washington Nationals + 120 (Jordan Zimmermann) over Colorado Rockies (Juan Nicasio)
Nationals starter Zimmermann has posted solid numbers this season to date.
3.14 ERA solid
1.10 WH/IP ratio very solid
Coming off a very impressive outing against the Mets (who's bats were blazing at the time) shutting them out going six strong innings, yielding seven hits.
Got dinged the start before that against the Marlins, but they all get dinged now and then, even Verlander and Doc get dinged 5 starts a year.
Zimmermann's month of June was near perfect, going 5-1 only loss was a 1-0 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels in interleague play, and that was against Dan Haren.
Zimmermann has a four pitch arsenal.
Four seam fastball, tops out at 95 mph, not afraid tho challenge hitters with it
Slider, probably his best pitch, throws it for strikes, comes from the same arm slot as his fastball, which makes it devious.
Curve ball, tight, with a lot of movement, still developing though, and right now it's a plus curve.
Two seam fastball.
He has the kind of stuff that can handle a Rockie line up without Car-Go.
Nicasio for the Rockies is an up and comer, pitched a hell of a game his last start, going seven innings, striking out ten Padres, giving up two runs, one earned.
But he's young and inconsistent.
Look at this game logs this year, seems like every game he's involved in is 8-5 or 9-4, or 9-7.
Gives up one run one game. six the next, one run the following game, gets bombed again the next.
Overall numbers this season are OK
ERA 3.95 decent
WH/IP ratio 1.23 not great, not crap, pedestrian like.
Never faced the Nats, but Washington has sticks, especially if Ramos is behind the plate.
Werth can go deep, Ankiel is healthy and really starting to rake now, the other Zimmerman, the one that plays third is one of the leagues best when healthy, and he is, Laynce Nix is one of the better hitters nobody heard of.
Nicasio is going to need run support from a Rockies line up wtih out Car-Go to win this game tonight, I don't see the Rockies line up getting runs off of Zimmermann tonight.
Taking that cheese-head from Wisconsin Jordan Zimmermann and the Washington Nationals at +120 for 2.5* tonight.
