Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest - Friday, 6/27/08
Starting Sunday (June 1), we will start a new June Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest with a prize of $200 account at DSI, 3 time roll-over. Last place will receive a $25 DSI account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and wins (20 plays minimum), there will be be multiple last place boobie prizes.

    *IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at DSI prior to making picks SIGN UP Here.

Before participating, players must PM their Diamond Sports International account ID to SBRforum Staff

    1. Check in the BASEBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Only the UNDERDOGS in games posted by LT will be eligible for selection, which will be only games that have underdog prices of greater than +110.

    3. All plays will be RISKING one unit, and selections may NOT be changed once posted.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two (or more) about why you are making your play.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis will be NO ACTION. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake, need to add analysis or wish to enter a corrected line, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not go off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not contest selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts, LT's notes to posters or congratulatory posts.
*-EXCEPTION: If someone edits a post on the last day of the competition in an attempt to get an automatic loss in order to win the Last Place prize, then the original post will stand.

    6. And here’s the fine print:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per home and computer.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one underdog pick per day, minimum 20 underdog plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker for first place is total WINS. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head underdog match until winner is determined. This would begin on the first day of next month with no passes allowed. If co-leader passes during tie-breaking period, he or she is eliminated, even if other co-leaders lose.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

          Seattle +125

Seattle under new management seems to have woke up a little winning 2 out of 3 in New York against the Mets, while the punchless Padres are 1-9 in their last 10.

Well Pavy, you brought me back out, I also started tis month going 0-3, so your still to dangerous for me to gamble with.

I'm glad you picked one so we can keep it going. We can always split the $200.

            I'll post one later.

YANKEES-G2 +126: Here is something I never expected to say the rest of the year: The Yankees actually have value at this price! They were Pedro's "daddy" for years when he was with the Red Sox, and Martinez is now just a shell of his former self. He has a 6.57 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in five starts with just one Quality Start among those outings, His last start may have been his worst yet, as he allowed six earned runs and nine hits while lasting just 4.1 innings vs. the Colorado Rockies. He now must contend with a blistering-hot Yankees lineup that hitting .308 as a team while averaging 6.00 runs over the last 10 games. Ponson is making his Yankees debut, and he actually was not terrible with Texas earlier this season, posting a 3.88 ERA in 55.2 innings. Besides, he doesn’t need to be fantastic the way the Yanks are hitting the ball right now, he merely needs not to get shelled.

                  New York Mets-G1 +140

I expect the Mets to complete the sweep of the Yankees at Yankee stadium where they beat the Yankees earlier this year 7-4 and 11-2 against their aces Pettite and Wang. Pelfrey is 4-1 in his last five starts whereas Yankees lost Giese's debute without scoring a run. Nice hitting and strong pitching will propel the Mets to victory.

Well, Nostra took my Seattle pick and I can't go with the same game.

Cardinals seem to be hitting alot better right now and you never know about the Royals offensively.
