Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest - Friday, 6/20/08
Starting Sunday (June 1), we will start a new June Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest with a prize of $200 account at DSI, 3 time roll-over. Last place will receive a $25 DSI account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and wins (20 plays minimum), there will be be multiple last place boobie prizes.

    *IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at DSI prior to making picks SIGN UP Here.

Before participating, players must PM their Diamond Sports International account ID to SBRforum Staff

    1. Check in the BASEBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Only the UNDERDOGS in games posted by LT will be eligible for selection, which will be only games that have underdog prices of greater than +110.

    3. All plays will be RISKING one unit, and selections may NOT be changed once posted.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two (or more) about why you are making your play.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis will be NO ACTION. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake, need to add analysis or wish to enter a corrected line, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not go off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not contest selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts, LT's notes to posters or congratulatory posts.
*-EXCEPTION: If someone edits a post on the last day of the competition in an attempt to get an automatic loss in order to win the Last Place prize, then the original post will stand.

    6. And here’s the fine print:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per home and computer.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one underdog pick per day, minimum 20 underdog plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker for first place is total WINS. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head underdog match until winner is determined. This would begin on the first day of next month with no passes allowed. If co-leader passes during tie-breaking period, he or she is eliminated, even if other co-leaders lose.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

ORIOLES +132: Both the Orioles and Brewers swept their last series, but the O’s hold all the value at this price. Liz has a very live arm and although he allowed four runs in 6.1 innings in his last start vs. Pittsburgh, that was the first time in three starts that he allowed more than two runs. He should be tough on a Milwaukee lineup that has never faced him. Now Suppan has been pitching well lately, but he has a 9.20 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in his last three starts vs. Baltimore. The Orioles also have the far superior bullpen here.

Danks is 2-1 with an ERA of 1.72 last 6 starts.
Cubs are road weary and not really impressed with Lilly.

Volquez is on the mound today. He's the only reds' pitcher pitching well every time. The Reds also hit when he is on the mound.

#956 Pitt +149 : now i'm not only beating a dead horse, i'm pounding it, this Pirates team is sucking, the BP is atrocious, players hurt, etc. But on the other hand they are facing a Jays team that has been a huge disappointment, they are 6-13 vs. LH starters, 4-11 in June, hitting .236 vs. lefties, actually the L10 it's .261, they have a top 5 rotation ERA-wise, a top 5 BP, have a line-up that consists of Rios,Hill,Overbay,Wells,Rolen,Zaun,Stair s,Barajas, and Eckstein, yet this team is last in their div. and overall losing record despite having more Hits,RBI's, and SB's than their opponents, and have drawn more walks and SO less and a higher batting avg. and OBP% than their opponents.
somehow i'm going with the home dog on this one.

Cubs have won 11 straight at home. Hopefully Danks can continue his strong road pitching for Sox, 1.72 ERA in 6 road starts. Home win streak ends today for Cubs.

Phils coming off of 2 straight losses at home to American League eastern leader Boston, now they get the first place team in the west. The Angels have played better on the road then at home this year, coming into this game with a road record of 21-12. This ought to be a real interesting matchup.

The Mets have always hit right handers good and I'm taking them in a pitchers duel with the Mets having the better hitters.

Hendrickson will look to bounce back in Oakland, where he is 2-3 in six games, with a 7.45 ERA. But today Hendrickson command the game vs. A's.
