Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest - Wednesday, 6/18/08
Starting Sunday (June 1), we will start a new June Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest with a prize of $200 account at DSI, 3 time roll-over. Last place will receive a $25 DSI account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and wins (20 plays minimum), there will be be multiple last place boobie prizes.

    *IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at DSI prior to making picks SIGN UP Here.

Before participating, players must PM their Diamond Sports International account ID to SBRforum Staff

    1. Check in the BASEBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Only the UNDERDOGS in games posted by LT will be eligible for selection, which will be only games that have underdog prices of greater than +110.

    3. All plays will be RISKING one unit, and selections may NOT be changed once posted.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two (or more) about why you are making your play.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis will be NO ACTION. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake, need to add analysis or wish to enter a corrected line, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not go off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not contest selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts, LT's notes to posters or congratulatory posts.
*-EXCEPTION: If someone edits a post on the last day of the competition in an attempt to get an automatic loss in order to win the Last Place prize, then the original post will stand.

    6. And here’s the fine print:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per home and computer.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one underdog pick per day, minimum 20 underdog plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker for first place is total WINS. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head underdog match until winner is determined. This would begin on the first day of next month with no passes allowed. If co-leader passes during tie-breaking period, he or she is eliminated, even if other co-leaders lose.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

      2nd choice if not Giants.

Peavy and the piss poor Padres+166

I believe Mike Lee has an angle in which you play the rookie at home if a dog.And bet against rookie if favored.
Here's hoping Peavy picked up the paper this AM and saw how he is being dissed by linemakers against the ever fraudulent Yankees.
      Guys (and SportsGirl),

BLUE JAYS +119: Marcum actually has a better ERA and WHIP than Sheets coming into this game. I expect this game to be decided by the bullpens late, and the Blue Jays have a huge edge in that area.

#965 Tor +119: me and LT must think alike sometimes. i was just looking more into this game and decided i liked it and came back to see if LT had the lines up.
Something has to give for Marcum sometime. He's had 3 straight no-dec's, all Jays losers, but yet he went 7 innings each game and has allowed a total of 4 ER's, the Jays have the better bats and better pen IMO, i'll take my chances.

This should be one heck of a pitching duel. A hard throwing veteran against a hard throwing youngster. I just can't pass up getting Peavy at +121.

                    Boston +127

Masterson has been solid in his 5 outings for the Sox. 2.90 ERA and 1.06 WHIP.

Kendrick has been dominant for Phillies this year, stats are nearly equal for both pitchers in their last 3.

Hopefully AL will continue to dominate interleague play.

I always like Boston as dogs. Pitchers ERA's are better for Boston and they also have the upper hand after shutting out Phillies last night.

After last night's blow out loss (16-5), maybe Pitt's bats come alive tonight?
Their top 4 hitter's (BA) went only 2-12!
Lots of room for improvement tonight against Buehrle.

Astros +149. Baltimore's Jeremy Guthrie (3-7, 3.71 ERA) is coming off one of his worst starts of the season and we hope he gets roughed up again.

Tex +115 ATL are 3-8 in their last 11 overall. Texas is evened out with Atlanta, but I think they'll win. Atlanta is playing poorly and I don't think they can win against Texas tonight.
