Yesterday was my worst day since starting over. I went 0-3 -3.00 units. Again, I am not dwelling on the past but focusing on the future.
Phillies -119
Pros: Kyle Kendrick is 5-0 with a 4.57 ERA over his last 11 starts, and the Phillies are 10-1 in those games. The right-hander gave up one unearned run in seven innings of Friday's 20-2 rout in St. Louis. Masterson has done well, but only at home. His road ERA is closer to a 4.00 and that was against teams that cannot hit. Masterson is going to get rocked tonight for sure. Also, you have to take the better team here. Kendrick's home ERA is a 3.86 with a 3-1 record. Expect the Phillies to have the major advantage in this one.
Cons: Boston has been playing well since Ortiz was injured.
Yankees -125
Pros: I know many of you are thinking that I'm crazy. I kid you not that if there is one team that I know, it is the Yankees. The Yankees have been on a roll lately and it isn't just a coincidence. The Yankees are the kings of interleague play. Because let's face it, a majority of these NL teams are inferior, such as the Padres. The Padres have no offense and their starting pitching is falling apart. While their ace will be on the mound tonight, there is a good chance the streaking Yankee bats continue to dominate at home. Peavy has been a different pitcher on the road, with a 2-1 record, a 5.40 ERA, and opponents batting .315 against him. In his last road start, the Cubs tagged him for 4 runs in 4 innings. Since I consider the Cubs and Yanks to have similar offenses, expect similar results. While Rasner has had mixed performances lately, he has played much better at home. In 3 home games, he has a 2-1 record and a 1.71 ERA. Coincidentally, he has had success against Baltimore, Kansas City, and Seattle, all teams with offenses similar to the Padres. He has also never faced the Padres before, so he may be more successful.
Cons: Peavy is a former CY Young winner who has the ability to be lights out.
