This year? He is going to be the reason the NATS can't contend in 2-3 years...you can't have 15-20% of your payroll tied up in an underacheiver on the WRONG side of 30.

he got paid, why would he care #1. #2 he was never that good to begin with hidden in a phily lineup with some solid sluggers. he is not choking whatsoever, he is what he is.

the nats are 2 games above 500 without werth producing with the bat and with zimmerman being out for most of the year. werth still plays stellar defense and has 11 steals... his bat will come around everntually. his salary isnt even a big deal because he plays in a big market with an owner whos starting to open up his wallet. hes playing better this year than the guy whos spot he took in the nats lineup... adam dunn. who i dunno is hitting something like .180 with single digit hrs and a million strikeouts for the white sox

I don't get the Jay Werth hate.
He is awesome on the bases, gives 100%, hits for power, and is a top 5 defensive outfielder.
Don't pay attention to the money. Owners do not offer contracts they can not afford, sans McBroke. Lol

Money for the most part in bases does not hurt teams. No salary cap, therefore you,can throw money @ your issues.

because hes getting paid such a high sum (7 years 126 mill). hes expected to perform to that level, obviously hes not as good as some people might have thought because clearly if he was than he would be hitting in the number 3 or 4 slot.

you set up a pay for performance scale. until that happens the players will get retarded money and it will never ever change, deal with it.

Big market teams can cover up mistakes like this... the nats are not that type of team
