Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest - Monday, 6/16/08
Starting Sunday (June 1), we will start a new June Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest with a prize of $200 account at DSI, 3 time roll-over. Last place will receive a $25 DSI account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and wins (20 plays minimum), there will be be multiple last place boobie prizes.

    *IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at DSI prior to making picks SIGN UP Here.

Before participating, players must PM their Diamond Sports International account ID to SBRforum Staff

    1. Check in the BASEBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Only the UNDERDOGS in games posted by LT will be eligible for selection, which will be only games that have underdog prices of greater than +110.

    3. All plays will be RISKING one unit, and selections may NOT be changed once posted.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two (or more) about why you are making your play.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis will be NO ACTION. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake, need to add analysis or wish to enter a corrected line, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not go off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not contest selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts, LT's notes to posters or congratulatory posts.
*-EXCEPTION: If someone edits a post on the last day of the competition in an attempt to get an automatic loss in order to win the Last Place prize, then the original post will stand.

    6. And here’s the fine print:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per home and computer.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one underdog pick per day, minimum 20 underdog plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker for first place is total WINS. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head underdog match until winner is determined. This would begin on the first day of next month with no passes allowed. If co-leader passes during tie-breaking period, he or she is eliminated, even if other co-lealers lose.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

        NO SELECTION TODAY

With only 2 games to choose from, I'm going to take a pass. Since I gave out Philadelphia as the strongest play of the day, I surely can't go against them, which only leaves me one other game and I don't think much of the game at all.

#955 NYM +142: Ok, The Mets haven't been the team i thought they were going to be. they can't hit righties for shit, they are traveling cross country after a DH yesterday, the Halo's are strong at home but struggle to score at times, don't hit righties all that great, the Mets BP is suckin', the Halo's aren't much better. I'll hope for a miracle.

METS +139: Pelfrey has reeled off three straight Quality Starts, posting a sparkling 1.71 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 21 innings in the process. He is facing an Angels lineup that has been a disappointment lately, averaging just 3.80 runs per game while batting a mediocre .255 as a team over the last 10 games. Weaver has been erratic, looking unhittable at times but simply brutal at other times. He has allowed double-digit hit totals in two of his last three starts while posting a 5.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over those outings, and his inconsistency makes him a dicey proposition laying this much juice.

Sox are improving on the road with 5 wins out of their last 7. I can see value in the price on offer.

I am only picking this because I don't like the other two options left. Mets on the road will be a good thing for Randolph to get some wins away from bad press of NYC.

NYM are 7-1 in their last 8 interleague games.
Public is 35% on the Mets --- I like it!
Pitching is pretty even, except for the fact that the Halos pitcher is inconsistent and the Mets pitcher is getting hot! I'm feeling the $$$ coming in!

I always like the Mets going against Right handed pitchers. Both pitchers era are about the same but favor the Mets lefty Bats to make the difference.

Boston +155. After partying for three days in Chicago, I'm back home and going for the Bosox. Why? I've got 10 minutes to pick a game and the Red Sox look like the best bet on the board.
