CHICAGO -- Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano had to leave Thursday's game against the San Francisco Giants in the second inning because of lower back soreness.
Zambrano had thrown 34 pitches. After a pitch to Eli Whiteside, Zambrano walked off the mound and catcher Koyie Hill and trainer Mark O'Neal came to the mound, and Zambrano went to the dugout.
The Giants were leading 1-0 at the time on an unearned run aided by a Zambrano error.Comment -
i wasn't watching, but it says on MLB.com that he left in the 2nd due to injury. my guess would be that Mateo is yet another rag-armed jabroni in the Cub pen that they are forced to trot out because they are paying essentially the entire Pirates' payroll to Soriano, Zambrano and Aramis Ramirez.Comment -

Giants winning the whole game, Wilson blows save in the 9th. Giants have bases loaded in the 12th with one out and miraculously don't score.
Giants finally gain the lead because Grabow serves on up. You think game is over.
2 outs and 2 strikes. Cubs get a double. Again down to two strikes, Cubs tie it. Then finally the HR...... woo hoo! Thank god the umpire didn't ring him up on that check swing.
