Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest - Friday, 6/13/08
Starting Sunday (June 1), we will start a new June Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest with a prize of $200 account at DSI, 3 time roll-over. Last place will receive a $25 DSI account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and wins (20 plays minimum), there will be be multiple last place boobie prizes.

    *IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at DSI prior to making picks SIGN UP Here.

Before participating, players must PM their Diamond Sports International account ID to SBRforum Staff

    1. Check in the BASEBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Only the UNDERDOGS in games posted by LT will be eligible for selection, which will be only games that have underdog prices of greater than +110.

    3. All plays will be RISKING one unit, and selections may NOT be changed once posted.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two (or more) about why you are making your play.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis will be NO ACTION. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake, need to add analysis or wish to enter a corrected line, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not go off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not contest selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts, LT's notes to posters or congratulatory posts.
*-EXCEPTION: If someone edits a post on the last day of the competition in an attempt to get an automatic loss in order to win the Last Place prize, then the original post will stand.

    6. And here’s the fine print:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per home and computer.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one underdog pick per day, minimum 20 underdog plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker for first place is total WINS. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head underdog match until winner is determined. This would begin on the first day of next month with no passes allowed. If co-leader passes during tie-breaking period, he or she is eliminated, even if other co-lealers lose.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

#921 Col +133 : i'm convinced in my mind that Francis is a better pitcher than his record indicates. the Rock's have been hitting great as of late and their pen has stepped it up. the White Sox can't hit lefties and the Rocks can't hit righties, something has to give, i'll take a chance with the upswing Rockies.
                honorable mention to the Twins.

ROCKIES +133: Yes, the White Sox are in first place and they are 20-9 at home, while the Rockies are in last place and 10-24 on the road. However, Francis is starting to round into his fine form of last season and the White Sox are not hitting right now. Francis has reeled off three consecutive Quality Starts, and he has allowed just three runs in his last 12 road innings. Meanwhile, the White Sox has scored exactly one run in each of the last two games and they are hitting a woeful .230 vs. southpaws this season including .210 over the last 10 games.

The Padres are playing some good ball. Winners of 2 straight and 7 of their last 10. They send a kid to the mound tonight that sports a record of 2-0 on the season and an era of 0.39. I will take my chances at this price with the Indians and their injuries.

I agree with you 1,100%. What really separates these 2 sides that the Yankees should be such a huge favorite? If I were to play on this game, I'd READILY go with Astros, no questions asked. More so, they lost yesterday to the Brewers and would be itching to bounce back. The Yankees have some traveling to do for this game, which means the Astros will be fresher and ready to go! Nice pick, sir.

                                          7:05PM (EST) 906 Cleveland Indians

Josh Banks finally saw his consecutive-innings streak (22) without yielding an earned run end in his last start, though he allowed little else in a victory over the Mets Thursday. That streak also is the longest in franchise history for a pitcher to start his Padres career. Banks has shown good command of all his pitches in his limited time with the Padres. This season 2-0 ERA 0.39. Away, 1-0 complete game.

Jeremy Sowers, has claimed a rotation spot for at least a couple of weeks as Fausto Carmona is on the mend and Jake Westbrook is on the shelf. This season, 0-1, ERA. 6.91. At home, ERA. 5.06.
