If Billy Beane was running a team in a more hitters friendly park, instead of a pitching based team in a pitcher friendly park with the most foul territory in all of baseball, he would have wrote and entirely different book and MIGHT have had even the smallest bit of post season success. I don't think they have done shit since he's been there, even with the wild card and expansion. The guy has done nothing but manage to compete and manage to keep a gig. He openly (either through the book or via the media) mocked other gm's around the league that he supposedly "took" or was "smarter than". Kenny Williams was one of those gm's and he won it all in '05. Only recently has the White Sox payroll really rising into the top quarter of baseball.
