Here is why NYY wins today. (writeup)
Why NYY win easy today. Cueto is pitching great and has given up 1 single earned run in the last 14 innings and Cin has won both his last 2 starts. However his last 2 starts where against SF and LAD. Neither team really compares to the bats of NYY so his ERA is bit misleading. It's one thing to shutdown a small ball team and totally different going against some big AL bats. I figure he will probably limit them to 1-4 runs in 6-7 innings. However the pen has a WHIP of 1.57 the last 3 and an ERA of 3.54. So you have to consider 3-4 runs given up by the pen depending on how deep Cueto can go. If he goes 7 then I would say NY gets 4-6 total runs for the game. If he goes 6 then up that to 6-7 total runs in the game.

If you look at Nova, he really isn't that bad. The problem is he has a few games where he went less than 5 and gave up at least 4 earned runs. Based on Cin hitting stats I would say they are similar to the power rating of CWS or NYM. Using those 2 teams as a comparison Nova gave up 5 hits and 1 earned run in 5.1 innings against CWS and 11 hits 3 earned runs in 6.2 innings against the NYM. If Nova can have a good game he can go 6 and give up 3 at most and allow great pen for NYY take over. They have a WHIP of 0.89 and 1.28 earned run average in the last 3. Toss in Rivera not having to pitch yesterday and

    Yanks take this one 7-3.

glad 2 see we have the same opinion. cuetos era is missleading... beyond the 2 teams u stated.. check out the teams in general he has faced this season. not one with a lineup that compares to the yankees.. Unless u wanna count st louis who stays losing to the most pathetic teams, and the phillies who in some games seem like double aa batters
