Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest - Wednesday, 6/04/08
Starting Sunday (June 1), we will start a new June Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest with a prize of $200 account at DSI, 3 time roll-over. Last place will receive a $25 DSI account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and wins (20 plays minimum), there will be be multiple last place boobie prizes.

    *IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at DSI prior to making picks SIGN UP Here.

Before participating, players must PM their Diamond Sports International account ID to SBRforum Staff

    1. Check in the BASEBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Only the UNDERDOGS in games posted by LT will be eligible for selection, which will be only games that have underdog prices of greater than +110.

    3. All plays will be RISKING one unit, and selections may NOT be changed once posted.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two (or more) about why you are making your play.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis will be NO ACTION. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake, need to add analysis or wish to enter a corrected line, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not go off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not contest selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts, LT's notes to posters or congratulatory posts.
*-EXCEPTION: If someone edits a post on the last day of the competition in an attempt to get an automatic loss in order to win the Last Place prize, then the original post will stand.

    6. And here’s the fine print:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per home and computer.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one underdog pick per day, minimum 20 underdog plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker for first place is total WINS. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head underdog match until winner is determined. This would begin on the first day of next month with no passes allowed. If co-leader passes during tie-breaking period, he or she is eliminated, even if other co-lealers lose.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

The deadline for entering plays in the contest and still being eligible for prizes is Wednesday, June 11.

Nothing like hanging on to first place to motivate a club even if it's a home field wins type series and Tampa's been off a bit lately . . .

BLUE JAYS +121: Litsch has been great for Toronto, with 16 scoreless innings in his last two start and a 3.18 ERA and 1.15 WHIP for the whole year. In his only ever career start at Yankee Stadium last season, he allowed only one run and five hits n 7.2 innings. Mussina has gone back to bad habits with a 5.40 ERA and a disgusting 1.89 WHIP in his last three starts, and the Jays have the far superior bullpen, especially with Joba out of the equation for the Yanks.

Col +123 at LAD. Yes, Colorado is is awful and particularly horrid on the road... However the pitching matchup Cook vs Kershaw is too sweet to ignore. Cook is one of the few bright spots on a bad Rockies team. Kershaws 1st start was good, but he has been sucking wind since and Torre has announced that following this game he is headed to the Pen. Rockies are the play, book it.

Love the value here. Beckett has also not been as good at home. Without Ortiz, I don't think the Sox are nearly as good.

This is a play on Litsch for me. He is 7-1, with a 3.18 on the year. In May, a rock solid 4-0, with a 2.08. Toss in the 2nd best bullpen ERA in baseball and this should be a "live dog" tonight vs. the Yankees and Mussina.

Royals +150..... The White Sox bats are terrible. They had a fluke game last night and beat up on Greinke but tonight they will be shut down by the Royals

actually out of all the UNERDOGS KC looks like the real UD on paper but I do see them with a shot tonight as I have had bad luck with Danks so this time I fade him and the 75+% public and go with the Royals.

This team has it all going on right now. Hitting well, getting some unexpected pitching when its needed and I just plain dont trust Lee on the road against this lineup.
