Is there any historical data that backs a strong play for an o/ u or home / away team after a long extra inning marathon followed by a day game the next morning?

Just from recent, the white sox won Tuesday night in a late high scoring game then turned around and lost a 2-1 game.

None of the regual players will be playing. Teams will unload their benches, especially the Reds.

Ya good point just from logic standpoint wouldnt you say the under would be more common, atleast in first five, Im sure bats wont be too hot, or mayb its the opposite effect...

They are gonna leave their starting pitchers out their longer even if they are getting shelled

bullpens are burnt and tired and i would assume they would give up some runs

bats will be slow and tired

for the total im going back and forth

I can see Lee lasting longer than Bailey but Reds can't hit lefties pretty good

yeah thanks. Reds CAN hit lefties well, they average 6.9 runs vs LHP. Phillies are no slouch either during the day with their 10-3 record.

I'm looking for something relevant regarding the Phillies/Reds but check out the Giants after extra innings...not that it's a surprise...Play Under

No score 1st inning is pretty solid though, but the PHI line is at -155

I say take the under, as bad are pitchers are you have to figure each team will be playing 90% of their bench so all of a sudden a 6.00 ERA pitchers becomes a 3.00 pitcher.

Hard to quantify but you'd have to think leadership and mental toughness come in to play today. I give Philly the edge in those dept.'s.

                            I'm torn too here...

Looks like Placido Polanco is gonna be on rest, along with Jimmy Rollins and same with Scott Rolen for the Reds

id make it a no play, regulars can rest, bullpens are tired, sps could be left out there for a long time, but if there facing backups or slow bats who knows which will prevail...

Take this for what it's worth but this will give you the game margin, average runs after 5 and 9 by team that went into extra innings. Now to try to paint a clearer picture for teams that went deep I used pitch count as my correlating metric. Typically the more pitches the more innings, but doesn't rule out long innings. However, you are still wearing your bullpen out either way. This will also assume that the next game doesn't go into extra innings. Query

I dont have any for yesterday, but today 05/27 would be the right day, to fade PHI and CIN.
