I've said this before, I have a friend who works in the front office for the Houston Astros (they have a shitload of their own problems) any-hoo, he's not an executive, but he does have a front office gig in MLB, which is pretty cool.

He tells me things, lots of things.

One thing he told me is that scouts all across the game say Phil Hughes has the worst work ethics in the game out of any pitcher.

He refuses to put in the work after starts, thinks he doesn't have to.
When it came down to who to deal, Ian Kennedy, Phil Hughes, the rest of the kiddy korps, Cashman was warned Hughes is a million dollar talent with a ten cent brain.

Cashman was advised, if you have to deal, keep Kennedy, trade Hughes, he'll break down.

Long story short after all the warnings, Cashman didn't listen, look what Kennedy is doing in Phoenix, he's doing very nice things, while fat head Hughes id dl'ed with a 'tired arm'.

Who gets a tired arm in May, at age 26?

I've lost all confidence in Cashman.

Threw Torre under the bus, threw Jeter under the bus, the list is endless.
He could have handled the Jeter thing better, the Torre saga better.

Yeah, Ike Davis will take you to the promised land.

Until Davis develops a breaking ball, they'll finish fourth.

No shit sherlock, my post went SOOOOOOOOOOOO far over your head it's not funny.

The sarcasm in my post was this, no slightly better than average first baseman is going to put the Mets over they top until they get two good front line starters.

Thus the comment "until Davis develops a breaking ball" means they need pitching, not some first baseman that can hit 22 homers and drive in 84 runs.

                              Get it now?

Girardi mucked up Colon's gem last night.
82 pitches through 8 innings, pitching lights out, like Bob Gibson, up 1-0 going to the ninth, had more than enough in the tank, yanks him for Mo.

You don't have to use the closer in every save situation jerk.

Why would you take out guy who had 25 + more pitches left in him, who has demonstrated all night, from innings 1-8 that the other team can't touch him, who was still in the zone for a cold 41 year old reliever (I know it's Mo, but that wasn't the time to yank him).

Cashman has to be the worst GM in baseball today.

With all the money he has to work with and the team he is putting on the field he is a complete joke.

With all the money he has to work with and the team he is putting on the field he is a complete joke.
Not the worst, but severely overrated, this coming from a NYY fan.

Made some nice moves, made some bonehead moves, I was the only one who thought Hughes is a PoS, got shit for it, turns out I was right all along, Kennedy looks like Cy Young compared to Phil Hughes, but he had to keep the fastball pitcher with meatloaf for brains, because fastballs are supposed to be sexy or something.

I'll give Cashman a pass on the Soriano signing, he never wanted him, that was fat Steinbrenner's deal.
