Hey, VG...I like your style. I have one question tho'...what is supposed to happen on the third play after two successive losses with the same team. It appears that you've done two different things so far...

When SFO lost 1.30, then another 3.06 (trying to win 2.30=the 1.30 lost on game#1 plus a fresh 1.00 for game#2), for a two game loss of 4.36...your next play tried only to recoup just the "small change" 0.36 bit of the 2-game-loss (aiming only for 1.36)...i thought then that your approach was just to recoup enough to just "clean up the loss" to an even whole number of units. If the team finally wins game 3, at least you end up with a "tidy" subtraction from the unit tally (just as every win leaves ends up giving us a "tidy" addition.) In this case we end the three game set down exactly 3.00 units.

But the next time a team lost g1, and recuperative g2 successively (DET, -1.10/push/-1.49 in pursuit of a 2.10 win) for a 2.59 loss...i would have expected you'd shoot for 1.59 in game 3 (which was the second game of sunday's double-header) enough to register a tidy loss of just 1.00 if successful...instead you repeated the previous bet and aimed for 2.59 again which would have left us with a different sort of consolation if game 3 were to succeed (that of losing, on balance...only game 1).

In addition to winning its own fresh 1.00 unit, what is the third bet supposed to be trying to recoup from losses suffered the previous two games...enough to tidy up the net loss to a round number (as with SFO), or enough to nullify the game#2 loss (as we just saw with DET)...or is something else going on.

Finally, I think you'll be happy to know that you've been shortchanging yourself a unit ever since Week#1, Day#2 (when g2 chase wins of 2.65 and 2.72 gave you 5.37...which added onto day#1's nice start of 2.63 to make 8.00 (not 7.00). So you now stand after 10 calendar days (9 with actual play) at 23-13 (63.9% of 36) and +14.44 (one more than the +13.44 you're reporting now).

Damn it still doesn't make sense...after Det's g2, we're down 2.59...what was the logic of betting to win 2.10 units on the third game?

Think i figured it out...Ideally, if it weren't a double header you'd have been able to tell us to next bet to win 1.59 (enough to at least tidy up the units lost, just like you did with SFO)...but because it was a double-header and you wouldn't be able to state the odds in your usual format...you told us to just "repeat" the bet, which was a close enough approximation

I'm interested in this cuz I'm interested in chalk- (but not loss-) recovery bet-sizing methods. Marty and Labby's get scary cuz they impatiently try to recoup previous losses...but methods that aim at recouping only the chalk effectively reward you after your last win to the "+100" state, and are almost as easy to "sleep" with as straight flat betting.

I'm on board, and i like your sensible approach to the 3-game "chase". Game two goes for the full 1-unit prize by trying to recover any losses and chalk from game 1. But after getting burnt twice, you just go for a modest consolation prize in game 3...nice if you get it, but with no JM-type suicidal consequences.

As long as your 3-game-loss series doesn't get much over their roughly-expeced 12.5% (1 in 8) of all series (of any length)...i can see how you'll always be "golden". As long as the small & flat to-win prize (2.5% of roll, as you've configured it...but i've "super-chickened" it down even further to 1%) is adhered to, I can see how the "chalk buildup" problem (the bad part of going with faves) is dealt with systematically as the hi-hit-rate (the good part of going with faves) eventually kicks in. Only problem i could see is that near the end of the season, there might not be enough games remaining to "clear" the loss-and-chalk buildup from a crappy run...so it'd be wise to start gearing down as season tails off.
