        JBC77, I don't like that over 9 at all.

If i have seattle and they are ever down more than 1, i chalk it up as a loss and a lesson learned.

                Houston @ Stl

Looper has gone 6 or more innings in 5 of his last 6 and he was only hit really hard in one of those games. Here are loopers numbers:
                • 4.03 K/9
                • 2.33 BB/9
                • 0.93 HR/9
                • .291 BAA
                • .307 BABIP
                • 18.7% LD
                • 49.3% GB
                • 32% FB
                • 9.2% HR/FB

                Here is what he throws:
                • 66.4% FB (90 mph)
                • 15.4% slider (84 mph)
                • 13.2% split (82 mph)
                • 4.0% change (81 mph)

Looper is throwing his change more this season and his slider less than he had in the last few seasons. his mph numbers are not impressive which is part of the reason why his K/9 total is so poor.

Braden has had great success in his career against the Houston Roster. Overall this lineup is hitting just .234 off him with only 1HR in 145 Abs. Those numbers are amazing. The guys who have given him trouble are Berkman, Towles, Erstad, Pence and matsui. Lance has more ABs than anyone against the right-hander and his has recorded 8 hits in his 23 ABs to go along with 5 walks; expect Berkman to cause some trouble tonight. Lance is still hitting well, but a hand problem seems to have really cut back some of his power.

Chacon has managed to consistently turn in strong performances for the Astros and he continues to be one of the pleasant surprises for them in 08. Here are his numbers:
                • 5.87 K/9
                • 4.11 BB/9
                • 1.47 HR/9
                • .251 BAA
                • .265 BABIP
                • 18.5% LD
                • 36.5 % GB
                • 45.0 % FB
                • 11.8 % HR/FB

                Here is what he throws:
                • 68.9% FB (88 mph)
                • 14.3% slider (82 mph)
                • 11.4% curve (75 mph)
                • 5.1% change (80 mph)

This STL lineup has 125 Abs against Shawn and they're hitting just .248 off of him with an OPS of .794. Schumaker, Duncan, Molina, Kennedy, and Ankiel have hit Chacon a bit, but the righty has owned pujols and glaus. The bad news for Chacon backers is looking at the fact that Shawn has allowed 28 free passes to just 15Ks against these Cadinals; thats a touch worse than pathetic.

Over their last 7 game houston is batting very well at .281, but their runs are down to just 4.3 per contest over that span. Houston has faired pretty well against right-handed starters this year, but they have showed poorly on the road this season with their bats. something will have to give this evening.

The cards are batting .286 at home this season but they're struggling to capitalize in the runs department. Over their last 7 games, however, they are scoring 5 a contest and the batting average is still strong at .271.

A big difference in these teams is something that many dont notice and thats who will and who wont take a walk. STL is one of the best teams in the league at drawing the base on balls while the stros are one of the worst. Chacon is walking over 4 per 9 and stl figures to be able to use his wildness against him this evening.

6 of the last 7 in this series have gone under including a recent matchup b/w these two starters in Houston. that game saw houston get a 3-2 win as the game stayed under 9 and the small home fav got the W.

Tonight the play is STL U 9

6 singles = 5 runs. since when? not one extra base hit in this game, no balls hit hard but one, and its 5-0.

this game will go over by 1 because 6 singles = 5 runs early. how ridiculous. bloop, grounder, grounder, bloop and 4 runs are in.
