the A's seem like the better pick.. Rangers are in a slump and A's are actually slapping that ball around a bit. Rangers pitcher has thrown well in his previous starts against the A's but I don't think it'll be enough. I can see the A's winning this one..
Also Rangers don't have a lot against mccarthy cuz well they used to be on the same team. The pitcher in this situation should have a smaller edge against the batters as he should know most of the Rangers hitters on their soft spots and what they drive pitches on for the scouting report.
A's also have a few players in there that has had some success against Holland
Matsui: 4 for 10, 2 for HR
Ellis: 3 for 4
this is the big one: Kouzmanoff 5 for 8, reason being so big is cuz kouzmanoff has been hititng real well. Also I don't think he played yesterday and they still won.
Wait for the line up release and if line up looks good where the A's can have successful consecutive batting, A's can slap the ball around for some runs.
Just my opinion.
Good luck!

I like TX in this one as a safe play, but the Over does have a chance, it all depends whether McCarthy can come back from his worse start in a long time, giving up 14 hits and 7 runs in 5 innings.
McCarthy did struggle, as he has most of the games this year on the road, but this is an opening game in the series and Oak is at home.
McCarthy's last home start against Det he pitched a solid 6.2 innings giving up 6 hits and 0 runs. It all depends on what Brandon McCarthy will show up today. I think one of the reasons he might pitch better is because he was born in CA and probably has a lot of friends and family willing to support his home games.
However TX is going to test him today if he starts giving up a lot of hits. They are slugging at .462 only short to the Bronx Bombers.
With that powerful Texas lineup if he gives up anywhere near 14 hits like his last game you can bet TX will get the win AND it will probably go over.

Holland is pretty much 4-5 ER per game starter in his career. His command is awful and he is prone to long ball. You have to expect Texas bats to bail you out every time when you bet on him.
Also, like Monitor-Tan mentioned, McCarthy will face his former team. He might have something to prove in this start and will be pitching with extra effort.
I think Oakland is the right side here...

Pitching against your old team may encourage you to play better, but that team also knows your and your pitches VERY well. Seems like a lot of good stats for and against this game one of the main reasons why I passed.

I agree. If the A's can get a few hits and unsettle holland in the first two innings, texas will be in trouble.

No Ian Kinsler or Mike Napoli...Oakland hitters, especially Hideki have had Holland's number in the past...also, no Coco Krisp today...he's getting his hair braided...might be out for the next couple of days. Not sure if this factors into your guys' cappin.

Not sure...I think he's had some leg issues that have prevented him from being a regular starter. I know most people are on the over, but I am half tempted to play a unit on the under.
