I mean his fastball is 82 only a few MPHs faster than his curve, he is just batting practice now (even more than before). I don't care how much he makes, can you keep throwing him out there if he can't get people out?

Its time to cut the cord.

    I'm down

    2 problems with this though:

    1) Sometimes he pitches well

    2) His replacement would be Jeff Suppan

His contract is backed by the most powerful union in the USA.

All of his money is guaranteed, and they still owe a shitload.

If they are paying him all that money, I dont see them letting him off the hook by sitting on the bench for the rest of the contract.

Actually it would likely be Ryan Vogelsong who has been very solid in both starts at Fresno. Suppan isn't relevant.

Traded him and Armando Rios for John Vander Wal and Jason Schmidt back in the day and he ends up back with us

            Probably.

Biggest thing SF has going for them is their Brian Wilson commercials.

Ha I know. Saw Vogelsong throw in Scottstdale in March. Stuff was good but still too many walks for my liking.

PS....in the AAA club section at ATT Park there's a great row of bats in a case. Matt Williams somehow gets racked next to Doug Mirabelli and the legendary William Van Landingham.

Vogelsong is far from perfect buy at least he has major league stuff, Zito just plain doesn't anymore (Basically since June of last year when he lost his 89 mph fastball). With an 89 MPH fastball he at least had a fighting chance at the 82-84 it is now he has NO chance and there are dozens of pitchers who are available for a song who would be a big step up.

Giants put him on DL bring up Vogelsong, not a very tough decision. 1st DL stint in his career (12 years) and even now its a foot that does him in.

                      The beginning of the end?

He is going to be getting paid whether he starts, relieves or is cut. I think they should probably put him in the bullpen, he probably could throw a little harder and should be able to get lefties out.
