Picks for April 15, 2011
Milwaukee Brewers @ Washington Nationals (7:05 PM ET)
This number is still too low for me to consider laying off. Both these bullpens have works in progress and I don't trust Narveson's early success. Morse has touched him up a couple times and should be back healthy from the flu tonight. Gorzelanny is a kid who has glimpses of success, but fact is he's never cracked up to much and that's why he's with his third team in three years. Over is 11-4-1 in the last 16 meetings, and recently 8 runs hasn't been a problem.
Pick: [953] Total Runs Over 8 -105 (Bookmaker)
Risk 1.05 units to win 1 unit
St Louis Cardinals @ Los Angeles Dodgers (10:10 PM ET)
No real write up neccessary. I've been on the cardinals 3 of the past 4 days over which they have an OPS over 1.000 as a team. Can't lay off at this price with that offense taking off into the stratosphere. Lohse has taken Duncan's advise to heart clearly, rejuvenating his career. Have to feel he has more upside than Jon Garland who's coming back from a strained oblique.
Pick: [965] St Louis Cardinals -105 (5Dimes)
Risk 1.05 units to win 1 unit
Texas Rangers @ New York Yankees (7:05 PM ET)
The Rangers are still a force to reckoned with even without Hamilton. Life without Josh has dealt a couple 1-run losses, and that should motivate them to exploit the AAA bound Ivan Nova. Kid has had a great spring, but he has to realize he's only here due to a lack of options. Opponents are hitting .300 off his fastball and .360 off his changeup. If you ask me, he's clealry in need of more seasoning.
Pick: [967] Texas Rangers +120 (5Dimes)
Risk 1 units to win 1.20 units
Toronto Blue Jays @ Boston Red Sox (7:05 PM ET)
So the Red Sox lose two games at home to the RAYS and they're still in the -180's? Well I know two things... 1) The Blue Jays have a much better offense than the Rays this year, and 2) The Red Sox are greatly underachieving in all aspects of the game. I can forget the bad history between Cecil and the Sox, because right here and now I'm only seeing one of these two teams close down games.
Pick: [971] Toronto Blue Jays +165 (5Dimes)
Risk 1 units to win 1.65 units
