First half of last year Pelfrey was in the running for Cy Young award right behind Ubaldo Jimenez.

We all know that's not who he really is or what we expect to see form him EVER again on a consistent basis. So throw last season's first three months of his stats out the window.

Pelfrey does have the potential to keep lineups in check but rarely do you see him being known as a "nasty" pitcher. It is still early in the season and his 15+ ERA is only going to go down...

Pelfrey is practically a minor league pitcher who gets playing time b/c he is on the Mets payroll. They have no other recourse. Trust me, if there was another choice they would exercise it.
