I love to play the teams avoid a sweep, but decided to take a loss on Boston series here. Looking back, Marines are on a good run. Sweeped Tigers, eying to sweep RedSox. I do think they have a shot.
Here's the pitching matchup if you are interested in revenge the Marines or your book.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Mariners RH Felix Hernandez (3-2, 3.32 ERA) vs. Red Sox RH Tim Wakefield (0-0, 5.56 ERA). King Felix is coming off two sharp outings, both wins, and appears to be rounding into his Cy Young form. Hernandez defeated Oakland 1-0 and Detroit 7-3 last time out. Hernandez is 4-1 lifetime against the Red Sox with a 2.91 ERA. The Sox have hit five homers off Hernandez, including one last year, but Hernandez posted a 4-2 victory and struck out 10 in seven innings. Buchholz is expected to start on Monday but his absence leaves the ball in the tenuous hands of Wakefield for his first start of the season. Relegated to the bullpen, Wakefield’s role for the Red Sox is basically to eat innings. The veteran knuckleballer, however, has been horrendous against Seattle in his career going 4-10 with a 4.18 ERA. He was also 4-10 last season with a 5.34 ERA and has been no better this season with a 5.56 ERA.
