I might even try Yankees -1.5 the way the Tigers have played to open the season.

              L.A. Angels ML -115 3 units
              Philadelphia ML -210 1 unit

Making a big play on Boston, Beckett is starting and has a whole lot to prove. The Indians are starting a pitcher brought up from AAA late last season. The Indians struggled against good pitching in their opening series with the White Sox, and this will continue if Beckett can put together a decent outing. This game could be close if the Indians get to Beckett but the Sox have a lot to prove after their disappointing series in Texas. I don't like playing the spread and giving out runs with Boston on the road until they can prove that they are the team we all think they are, so play the ML and go with the safe bet for Boston to beat the hapless Indians

                                          Early play for 4/12

                                          Texas Rangers ML -137

Texas has posted back-to-back shutouts and given up one run during three straight victories. The Rangers (9-1) have already played four games in which they've hit at least three home runs, but lately their pitching staff hasn't needed much support. Rangers pitcher C.J. Wilson (1-0, 2.84 ERA) will be looking to build on his first victory after holding Seattle to two earned runs over seven innings in a 7-3 win last Wednesday.

Detroit (3-7) is the only AL team Wilson has yet to face, but the Tigers' .209 average (9 for 43) and 15 strikeouts against the two lefty starters they've faced in 2011 is encouraging. The Tigers are not hitting the ball well as a team, and these numbers against lefty pitchers indicates they may struggle against Wilson.

Miguel Cabrera is hitting .382 but hasn't gotten much help from the rest of his team. Magglio Ordonez is out for this game with tightness in his right Achilles' tendon. He's expected to miss a few games, and he's already sat out three times with a sore right ankle. Hitting issues have put pressure on the Tigers' starting rotation,

Brad Penny (0-1, 11.17 ERA) will start today for Detroit and he has yet to have a good outing. After giving up eight runs over 4 1/3 innings in a 10-6 loss to New York on April 2, Penny surrendered four runs over 5 1/3 innings and left without a decision Thursday in a 9-5 loss to the Orioles.Penny didn't face the Rangers last season, but was 0-2 with a 7.15 ERA in two starts against Texas in 2009.

Rangers - Ian Kinsler has homered twice in five at-bats against Penny, while Mike Napoli is 4 for 8 with three homers. Expect the Rangers to put the ball out of the park today.

I am placing a 2 unit wager today on the Texas Rangers ML -137, for all of the reasons stated above. Detroit is struggling, and Texas is hot right now. Tigers pitcher Brad Penny is really struggling, and other than cabrera he will not get any help from the cold bats of the detroit batting lineup today. Make a small play on the Rangers for the ML, the game could be close so I wouldn't recommend betting the -1.5 line and I wouldn't trust the Tigers at +1.5, so the safe play is the Rangers moneyline. They will win this game!

                                            1 unit (EXTREME VALUE PLAY)
                                            Indians/Angels Under 7 (even $) 1 unit

The Indians are scoring plenty of runs, hitting for power and getting solid performances from their starting rotation. The Indians are not the same pushovers they were last season. The division-leading Indians are trying to extend their longest winning streak in three seasons to 9 straight wins. The Indians (8-2) are hitting well as a team right now and already have five multihomer games this season, but the pitching is what has made the difference this year. Last nights 4-0 win over the Angels marked the seventh time during the winning streak that an Indians starter has lasted at least six innings while allowing three runs or fewer.

Indians starters are 6-0 with a 1.55 ERA during this stretch. Cleveland, 4-0 on the road for the first time since opening 6-0 in 1998, last won nine straight overall during a 10-0 stretch Aug. 17-27, 2008. Now all these factors should cause caution. The wheels will fall off very soon, and that is why Vegas is marking them as significant underdogs once again tonight. Their status as +1.5 dogs is also caused by their starter for tonight and his up and down stats. Don't let his ERA fool you though, he had a miserable start of the season on opening day against Chicago in extremely cold and wet weather, but rebounded in his second start throwing hard and keeping his nasty sinker down low.

Fausto Carmona (0-1, 9.00 ERA) will try to help the Tribe continue its run as he looks to build off a 1-0 victory over Boston on Thursday when he threw seven innings and only giving up 2 hits. That performance came six days after the right-hander surrendered a career-high 10 runs and 11 hits in three innings of a 15-10 opening-day loss to the White Sox. Carmona is 0-2 with a 2.52 ERA in four starts against Los Angeles. Carmona tossed seven shutout innings in Thursday's win over the Red Sox, He struck out four while allowing just two hits and two walks in his seven innings of work. This was a terrific rebound start for Carmona and with his team playing well and backing him up look for him to continue the trend.

The Angels (5-5) will start Dan Haren (2-0, 1.15 ERA), who had his start pushed back one day after throwing a perfect inning of relief and picking up the win in Saturday's 6-5, 14-inning victory over Toronto. In his last outing, the right-hander went 7 2/3 innings and gave up one run and four hits in Wednesday's 5-1 win at Tampa Bay. Haren has gone at least seven innings while allowing one run and striking out six in each of his first two starts. This will be his first start in Anaheim this season. Haren went 4-3 with a 2.08 ERA in nine home starts in 2010 after being acquired from Arizona on July 25. Haren is 2-2 with a 4.93 ERA in seven starts versus Cleveland.

I am making 2 seperate small plays on this game tonight. The Indians struggled at the plate last night after exploding in the 1st and second innings. They went cold after that and could not score. Carmona and Haren should pitch well and after getting shutout last night 4-0, I don't expect the Angels to hit the ball well against Carmona. There is great value in playing the under tonight of 7 runs. If the pitchers duel ensues as I expect, the game will be 3-2. The Indians also have rested their bullpen after winning 4-0 and having Talbot go 8 innings last night and resting reliever, setup man and closer, Rafael Perez, Tony Sipp, and Chris Perez. The value is there also for the Indians to continue their win streak and a moneyline play of +155 has great value, considering it is inflated by Carmona's ERA of 9.00. He has proven in his last start that it was an opening day isolated performance in cold weather, so don't expect him to get shelled tonight like he did in his opening start. Indians should win in a close game tonight, but..... only make a 1-2 unit play on this game, and only a 1-2 unit play on the under 7 runs. I am making a 1 unit play on both, so be warned, and do not parlay these plays!

just read about these two pitchers and that is all I needed to see. Kevin Correia for Pittsburg is pitching really well this year. Going for his 3rd straight win of the season and first home start. Marcum will give up a few runs but he will also go 6-7 innings like Correia and both teams are not putting runs on the board at a great rate this season. Game should be 4-3 Brewers.

The Orioles got off to a 6-1 start, but have lost their last two games. Baltimore will put its 3-0 road record on the line against the Yankees. Orioles starting pitcher for tonight Chris Tillman has not had much success against the Yanks going 1-1 with a 5.52 ERA in three starts. Yankees starting pitcher AJ Burnett; however, has started against Baltimore 18 times in his career, and won 13 of 18. To top off these impressive stats for the Yankee starter, Burnett is a perfect 7-0 in his April starts for New York, posting a 3.91 ERA.

Alex Rodriguez will be back tonight after missing Sunday's 4-0 loss at Boston. This is important for the Yankees because Rodriguez has Tattoo'd Tillman in his career hitting for a whopping .500 avg with 1 HR, and fellow Yankee slugger Robinson Cano is hitting for an astronomical .857 avg against Tillman for his career. I am taking the Yankees tonight at Home to win this game, I am playing it safe rather than betting the -1.5 spread. It is not the best value at -175 but I am very confident the Yankees will put some runs on the board and win at home, and so confident I am willing to risk 6 units on this play.

I didn't take it personally. we are all doing our thing, trying to make picks and share picks to make each other money. I am new to the forum as far as posting picks and didn't mean to step on anyones toes, I actually just copied and pasted my pick from my own thread and it was in bold and I simply forgot to change it by accident.

Friday night's scheduled series opener was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader tonight, the Mets lobbied against it due to concerns about the implications to their pitching staff. New York was swept by Colorado in a doubleheader Thursday in New York after being rained out Tuesday.
Lowe (1-2, 1.45 ERA) has allowed three runs in 13 innings over his last two starts, but has lost both of them while the Braves have failed to score in both outings and totaled only 12 hits. Lowe gave up just two runs and seven hits in seven innings of a 3-0 loss to Philadelphia on Sunday. He had allowed one run and five hits in six innings of a 1-0 defeat on April 5 in Milwaukee.
The Braves lost for the seventh time in nine games Thursday, falling 6-5 to Florida. They're hitting .212 in that stretch with a 4.04 ERA. The Braves have had little trouble putting things together against the Mets however, winning 11 of the last 14 meetings and hitting .288 with 14 homers while their pitching staff has compiled a 2.23 ERA.They've been even better over the last 27 matchups in Atlanta, winning 20 of 27 while outscoring New York 131-47 behind a .337 average and 22 homers.
The Mets come into the series with the Braves tonight on a five-game losing streak, going down twice to Colorado on Thursday, 6-5 in the first game and 9-4 in the nightcap. Mets pitching staff surrendered seven homers with a 6.50 ERA en route to being swept in the four-game series at home.
Opposing Lowe in the opener for New York will be D.J. Carrasco (0-0, 4.05) Carrasco has started just once in 212 appearances over four seasons. That only start came when he played for the White Sox on July 31, 2009, when the right-hander allowed five runs and nine hits in four innings of a 10-5 win over the Yankees. Carrasco has faced Atlanta once, throwing a perfect inning of relief for Pittsburgh on May 21. Carrasco will be cleared to throw only around 80 pitches, the rest of the game will be in the hands of the struggling Mets relievers.
Jair Jurrjens makes his season debut for Atlanta in the nightcap. Jurrjens began this season on the DL after straining his right oblique in an exhibition game March 24. He went 7-6 with a 4.64 ERA in 2010 before his season ended in mid-September with a knee injury. Jurrjens has been cleared to throw at least 100 pitches. He is 7-2 with a 2.81 ERA against the Mets, going 4-0 with a 1.75 ERA at home.

After opening 2011 with two dismal outings, Pelfrey was better Monday against Colorado, allowing four runs -- three earned -- and six hits over 5 1/3 innings before leaving without a decision in a 7-6 loss. He pitched a combined 6 1/3 innings in his first two starts, yielding 11 runs. Pelfrey is 0-3 with a 7.24 ERA in his last three starts against Atlanta, losing the last two at Turner Field.
Brian McCann is 18 for 39 (.462) with two homers and eight doubles for the Braves when hitting against Pelfrey, while Martin Prado is 8 for 19 (.421) with a home run with the Braves against Pelfrey. Look for the Braves to score some runs in the second game.
