I may be in the minority but I like Dempster. He's finally starting to pitch like I thought he would this year. Just 3 runs allowed in his last 2 starts. He struggled horribly in his first 6 starts getting killed by the homerun. 19 of his 33 earned runs in those 6 starts came off the homerun and he's tied for 2nd in the majors in homeruns allowed. Not only has he been good at keeping the ball in the yard his last 2 starts (1 solo hr allowed) but he gets the wind blowing in today (projected at least). Huge help for Dempster.

Bumgarner has also turned his season around but today, with the exception of Pena, the Cubs have an all righty lineup. The difference in Bumgarner vs lefties and Bumgarner vs righties is drastic. Righties are hitting him 43 points better this year and 52 points better in his career. The Cubs kill lefties as it is with a .295 average good for 3rd in baseball.

With the wind expected to be blowing in, I think Dempster holds a big edge over Bumgarner if this becomes a singles/doubles game to score runs.

Giants also traveling from San Fran last night while the Cubs slept in their own beds. Maybe a bit of a sluggish day for the Giants. At a near pick'em, I'll take the home team.
