    Opening day upsets?
Hey which of the following favorites have a good chance of losing?

    Cardinals (playing against Padres)
    Angels (playing against Royals)
    Philly (playing against Astros)
    Braves (playing against Nationals)

Will give points for good explanations. Thanks.

The Padres have Tim Stauffer pitching. He is a good ground ball pitcher and keeps the ball in the park. I don't see the Padres lineup doing anything though. So no play there

The angels played good ball all spring, and I love Jered Weaver. He should carve up the Royals lineup, but can Hochevar keep pace? Lean to Angels

Halladay will pitch, but can Philly hit? Myers has been hit hard all spring, and I dont see the Astros putting up a lot of runs. Lean Phillies, but hate laying the -260, so might play the UNDER

Braves have Derek Lowe pitching, who I have yet to figure out. They struggled mightily with Livan last year, but Hudson kept facing Livan and Hudson would shut them down. I don't trust Lowe, and I especially don't trust Lowe on the road, laying -150. Not making a play here, but I would lean to the Nats as a decent home dog

Nats beating the Braves in my opinion.
-Livan Hernandez is on the hill so there is potential for 7 or 8 innings thus staying away from the bullpen.
-Lowe could potentially only pitch 4-6 possibly 7 innings so you could be looking at the Braves unproven bullpen for a while.
-Opening Day at home is like nothing else, plus the fans will be out in full force, tends to be quite the electricity in the air in Washington on opening day especially.
      -Home dog...... ehhhhh maybe

kind of some reaches as statistical data isn't their yet at all

I'm liking the Padres. Stauffer has been lights out this whole spring, and was very good as a starter last year. In his six starts, he had a 2.62 ERA. They have a very good bullpen as well, with Gregerson, Adams and Bell. If they can get a couple runs off Carpenter, I feel that they can win.

^ Hmmm on espn and 5dimes it says Lowe is pitching first and Hanson's pitching 2nd day.

Dang didn't expect I would see any love for the Padres. o_O

I felt like Carpenter + Pujols + Holliday > Padres.

Houston has the Phillies # the line should be -210 +, and it will be cold and damp(rain showers, light snow) the Doc may get "tight" in arm or leg no way Phil. takes any chances here.!! Check my thread for more and best of luck to everyone.!!

It's definitely Lowe pitching for Atlanta. I am kind of surprised that Hudson/Hanson is not getting on the bump. I don't think this says that Lowe is their best pitcher, but that hes a veteran guy and the braves trust him
