    Cappinthepigs MLB 2011 Season Long
Well here it is, baseball season just around the corner, right around a week to go and oh boy am I ready. I'll post my plays and thoughts in this thread daily and hope to discuss with others some things that may pop up.

Best of luck to everyone in the upcoming MLB season.

Verlander absolutley owns the Rangers over his career and owns the current Rangers roster as well. Ogando (sp) showed that he has pretty good stuff in his 6 innings against Seattle giving up only 2 hits. Verlander will be his usual self vs Texas and the young Right Hander for the Rangers should confuse a depleted Tigers lineup. Look for a 4-2 ish final one way or the other.

Dempster has proven he's not afraid to give up runs. Figueroa also isn't Cy Young himself. The ball should be flying around tonight and I expect this game to go over fairly easily... 6-5 final?

                                      Toronto Blue Jays -120 1*

The Mariners can't score. Last night was a fluke & the Jays Ricky Romero has been dealing so far this year. Giving up only a total of 11 hits and 2 ER in 13.2 innings with a WHIP of 0.95. Also the Mariners current roster is hitting just .214 vs him career. This is mainly a play on a surging pitcher vs a rookie and the Toronto offense (much better) vs the Seattle offense (much worse).

                                      Texas Rangers / Detroit Tigers OVER 9 -115 1*

Penny has been getting shelled. That most likely won't change today. Wilson also has given up a few runs lately and the Tigers are due for some offense.

                                      Houston Astros -115 1*

The Astros did their best last night in their comeback falling just short with a 1 run loss to the Cubbies. I think they get there today with Brett Myers (who in my opinion is clearly the Astros best pitcher). The Cubbies are throwing a Left Handed reliever James Russell... He hasn't given up many runs in his career, but he hasn't pitched many innings either. -115 has value here and we are going to take it.

                                      Oakland A's +110 1*

Edwin Jackson has to have a dead arm after his 119 pitch performance last time out. He did duel and get a good win, but what did he give up to do it? Too much this capper thinks. Cahill on the other hand has been solid and steady with his pitches this year and should be very hard for the White Sox to figure out. Their current roster is hitting .226 vs Cahill lifetime and has only 1 long ball vs the Southpaw in over 70 AB's. Live Doggie here.

I like the Tor play and the Tex/Det over . Romero imho is the better pitcher . Also when I like a pitching match up that has a lefty vs a righty and my picj is the lefty , it usually a plus .

Chicago White Sox ML -117 2*

Launching only my third 2* play so far this year on the White Sox at home today. Danks has pitched well... His team's results differ however. His bullpen has let him down twice this year (once leaving trailing 2-1 going into the 7th and on the other occasion leading 5-3 when they gave up a 5 spot in the top of the 9th vs TB). The current A's roster only hits .262 vs Danks lifetime. On the other hand the Sox are hitting the ball at a .318 clip vs A's starter Anderson. He has had 2 solid outings this year but lost both anyway, but vs Minny and Seattle??? Those two teams early this year could have made me look good. The White Sox are a MUCH better team than Oakland and look for some wind to be out of their sails after the late night loss last night.

                                            Rockies / Mets OVER 7.5 -115 1*

I don't see any way that there aren't a lot of runs scored in this one. Colorado has scored at least 6 runs in 5 of their last 6 games while NYM has given up 45 runs in their last 6 games (7.5 per game!!!!) A total @ 7.5 just these 2 stats by themselves should be enough, but Colorado is throwing a converted reliever that was never that good (this years lone start excluded) vs a Mets pitcher in Niese with a career ERA of 4.49 and Colorado also is hitting over .300 vs him. Give me the 7.5!

Don't see anything else today that I have to play.
Leans were Cleveland ML, Marlins ML, and Phillies RL.

Best of luck in all your plays!

Danks throws an absolute gem and the bullpen gives up 3 in the top of the 9th, and 3 in the top of the 10th for a 3 run loss in Extras! That is unbelievable. Will have to think twice before backing CWS again with their bullpen woes.

Gonna go short on the writeups and analysis since nobody seems to care to read what I have to say, at least not to comment anyway. If anyone would like to discuss these picks feel free to comment and I promise to reply.

                                                Brewers / Pirates UNDER 8.5 -110 (5Dimes) 1*

Get this line now as most books have moved to 8 already. Neither team hits well vs LHP and both teams hit in the low .200's vs today's hurlers. Enough for me.
More plays coming, but wanted to post this one quick due to lines moving.

                                                Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 +105 (The Greek) 1*

Cliff Lee should bounce back today after a rough start last time out vs the Braves. The Nationals are not nearly as good of a team with Ryan Zimmerman on the bench and look for the Fightin's bats to come alive today and hand Washington a beating. Also, the current Phillies lineup is hitting .407 vs Zimmerman career (11 for 27 with 2 HR and 7 RBI)

Atlanta Braves -133 (The Greek) 1*

The Marlins should be confused by Beachy at least the first 2 times through the rotation and that should give the Braves plenty of time to get to Nolasco whom the Braves have KILLED lifetime. Chipper and McCann have a total of 9 HR career vs Ricky. The Braves are also hitting well over .300 combined vs the fish hurler. Should bounce back after JJ ate their lunch last night.

2-1 Day yesterday just short of 3-0 as the Braves fall late to the Fish. Back atem today with more plays possibly coming, just wanted to get these out as the lines are moving. Now 7-2 on Totals and 2-0 on Runlines. ML is still my jinx! BOL Everyone.

                                                  Giants / Diamondbacks UNDER 9 -120 (The Greek) 2*

Neither one of these teams hit worth a crap vs the opposing pitchers in this contest and I am not very confident overall about either of these two teams offense in general. There are plenty of more specific #'s as well as the Giants being very banged up at the moment. Get this one now as it will probably go to 8.5.

Milwaukee Brewers -123 (The Greek) 1*

Narveson is rolling so far this year not giving up an earned run yet and the Brew crew has won 7 of their L8 while the Nats have been struggling most of the year so far. Give me the hot pitcher and team at the typical lowly Nats.

                                                  Orioles / Indians UNDER 8 -120 (The Greek) 1*

Britton and Masterson have both been almost unhittable and Masterson has been very good vs the O's current lineup career holding them .247 average. Britton will still confuse opposing hitters with his amazing stuff and lack of familiarity for another month or so. Look for runs to be at a premium here. Also Lean to Baltimore ML as well.

Kansas City -123 (The only thing keeping me from playing this is KC's lineup hasn't seen Bedard very much at all in their career (3 Players))
White Sox -120 (Weaver after throwing 125 pitches and 15K's is bound for a letdown, just don't know for sure if I can back the converted reliever in CWS).
