Dumatrait replaces Matt Morris in the Pirates rotation today making his first start for this team. I see him coming out fired up and throwing well. Nationals don't score many runs either so I see the Bucs scrapping a few runs off Lannan and getting the win in Washington to even the series 1 all.

Volquez is hot, but what's getting lost in the equation is Tim Hudson. After a hot start this season, he has allowed 23 hits in the last 12.2 innings. Braves have scored 3 runs or less in 6 of their last 8 games.

Although Roy Oswalt has rediscovered himself a bit after a horrid beginning to '08, the Astros are still just 3-7 in his last 10 starts. In '07, Oswalt had a tough time vs. MIL, going 0-2 with a 5.49 ERA in three starts. Houston as a whole went 5-13 vs. MIL in '07. Carlos Villanueva has been fairly steady for MIL with a 4.66 ERA, but three starts allowing 2 ER or less. In his only start against HOU, he allowed just 1 ER in 6 IP last year.

Not a good card for dogs today in my opinion...I think this one has the best shot of winning as familiarity comes into play...two good pitchers on the mound will keep the baserunners to a min. thus keeping the scoring down, which in turn keeps my dog in the ball game throughout...Braves have never faced Volquez and i think he makes the difference in this one. Liking the division m-up here w/ 2 teams seemingly heading in opposite directions .

What with Boston's recent lack of offence: (-1.10) RF\RA and TB steam rolling along at a (+1.80) RF\RA clip; at this price it's worth a shot at the 'DOG. Both starting pitchers are both fairly evenly matched insofar as their ERA and WHIP stats go.

Hudson has been giving up a lot of extra base hits, not striking out many. Atlanta bats have been cold, and Volquez has been consistent, Cincy's pen is decent.

Hudson hasn't been himself as of late, in his last 3 starts, he hasn't made it past the 4th inning. On the other hand, Volquez has been on fire, only giving up 1 run in his past 3 starts. On top of that, the Reds bullpen has been pitching very well, and the Braves pen has been lit up a little bit this year, not to mention Soriano is still out.

The Rays just swept the Sox last week and them getting +159 is like stealing. Jackson had a great start against the red sox a week ago and he should throw another gem. Buckholz should not being laying that kind of chalk to anyone right now since the sox have lost most of the games he's started in. Rays are rolling right now and the Red Sox are slumping, going with the hot team.

Obviously sabathia should be favored -210 the way he has been pitching lately, but not too many people know about this kid hochevar for kc. his stuff is so good that he ends up walking a lot of batters and withcleveland being a patient club this should spell trouble for kc, im takin a shot here but i promise you this if the year was 2010 we might be looking at a pickem line - hochevar has ridiculous stuff - he just hasnt learned to control it yet on a major league level. i would have taken the cubs or the mets but they werent available so i'll take my chances with this freak hochevar and just hope kc can manufacture a few runs here cuz hochevar's stuff is really that good. so yes KC +185. good luck ya'll.

Actually biggest reason for taking this is that i'm a bit late, thus not many games to choose from, and this is not a popular pick in the contest either. Angels are the better team and have edges in all areas of the game, but Jeremy Guthrie is good enough of making this one a game, especially in a pitchers park like the Angel stadium. While Baltimore batting is quite weak, they still have a few good sticks in the lineyup and might very well be able to compete in this one.
