The Mets are giving him one last chance this week to stay on the team as a lefty bullpen specialist. He just came in and gave up back to back HR's.
One of the worse signings ever.

Omar Minaya thought pitching coach Rick Peterson could fix him so they traded for him. He was wrong. Now Sandy Alderson is going to get rid of all of Minaya's mistakes. They cut Castillo this week. Perez is out the door. They're not signing Beltran at the end of the year and on side note, the can't afford to keep Jose Reyes.
Minaya wanted Latins, Alderson is getting rid of all of them.

Omar Minaya = Isiah Thomas
Different sports, same flawed approach to constructing a ball club.

Watching the game Saturday, I thought it was odd the Nats were pinch hitting in an exhibition game and this came out today...
One conspiracy theory intimated Collins forced the issue Saturday by prearranging the scenario with his friend Jim Riggelman, the Nationals manager. Perez was summoned to face lefty-swinging Matt Stairs in the seventh inning, but Riggelman countered by using righty-hitting Jeff Frazier as a pinch hitter. It was construed as odd by some that Riggelman would pinch hit for a veteran like Stairs in an exhibition game.
Frazier then smashed a three-run homer against Perez, and the ensuing batter, righty hitter Brian Bixler, also homered. But Collins denied he had any input on Riggelman's decision to pinch hit for Stairs with a righty.
"Who knows why [Riggelman] did it?" Collins said. "They had lost five games in a row, maybe they were under pressure to win the game. That can happen."

Stairs is older than dirt & probably told the kid to pinch hit for him

I would not want to be a Mets-fan during the upcoming years.
Not feeling sorry for Perez, he has more money that he can spend - for doing nothing.
