Bob Loblaw's Spring Training

A lot of people have given their thoughts on Spring Training, it's a cloin flip, it's meaningless, it can't be beat, etc. I've given my thoughts back and it's time to my money/points where my mouth is. I'll post 1 play a day at 1 unit each and I'm willing to take on any points bet from a trusted member that I will be plus money at the end of spring. If I have to pay I may have to pay back loan style as I'm currently on a loan. You can pay back the same way if you want. Any takers?

Love the Yanks tonight. Boston bringing nobody with them. As far as offense goes the only "big leaguers" they're bringing are Varitek, Kalish, McDonald, and Lowrie. All 4 of those guys are backups.

For the Yankees, I don't have their lineup yet, but being at home and throwing out mostly a minor league lineup yesterday, I would be shocked if most of the big guns weren't in there.

Buccholz > Colon but I like Colon here. He's further ahead than most pitchers. He threw 74 innings in the winter league where he finished with a 1.84 era.

I like the Yanks relief a lot better as well. On the Red Sox side I have no confidence in Randy Williams or Albers and little confidence in Duckworth and Pena. I'd rather have Feliciano, Banuelos, Prior, and Sisco.

Thanks for the insight, my original thinking was the Yanks because they are home and will play more starters most likely and will care(even if just a little) about winning the game.

Nobody took my bet. Reading my first post again, I sound a little cocky. That's not what I'm trying to do here. I hope to be where I think I'll think I'll be at the end of spring and the point of this thread is to prove spring training is the furthest thing from a coin flip as so many claim. In my mind, there isn't a more profitable time of the year than spring training. Maybe I sound stupid with this statement but I 100% believe if spring training was 12 months a year then I would never have to work a day in my life again. So I'm hoping to show a nice profit in this thread and for the constant posts of spring training being a coin flip to stop and for others who have never given it a chance to give it a chance. I'm not trying to be cocky here and being in the negative at the end of spring is always a possibility as it is with anything you gamble on.

The lines. I can find huge mismatches in the regular season and have a great winning percentage but those lines get so high that there's no guarantee I would profit. If I'm getting complete mismatches like I had with the A's today and I only have to lay -122 on a game I think should have been in the -200's (spring training or not) then I'm going to have a great chance to turn a profit in the month of March.
