Cal Baseball, preseason #17, program cancelled?

Its looks like the Cal baseball program is no more despite millions in donations to keep it going. Wow, I'm a Stanford fan and hate Cal (in a sports sense at least), but this is a shame. They say they need $10 million more to keep it going, I hope some uber-rich alum comes in at the last minute to save it.

Women's Gymnastics and Lacrosse were saved though, thank you Title 9

That's amazing. I don't think I've ever seen a program that big get cut.

I'm a diehard Berkeley fan, and grad, but I can't really blame the move. Simply, not enough scratch to go around.

By the way, this news came out in late September, so boosters, fans, ect. had a decent amount of time to try and raise money...

Title 9 has been the ruination of many programs at schools with smaller budgets and/or a limited donation base. Simply a sign of the times I guess!!
