Scot Kazmier for Michael Young trade?
Texas needs pitching, possible trade between angels and Texas looming, my source says it's got some sticking points, but could be done by end of April

Rangers would be getting ripped off. Kazmir is all done and Young still has plenty of productive years left

As bad as Kazmir might be in Texas, I don't how productive Young will be away from Texas. Young has been drastically worse on the road in his career and last year hit just .260 with 5 hr's and 36 rbi's. He's a .246 career hitter over 370 ab's at Angel Stadium and last year hit .150 in 40 ab's.

The `sticking point`might be that one is a major league player and the other has not been for years now.

Young isn't that great, but Kazmir is a pretty sorry excuse for a pitcher.

Young's numbers are slightly skewed by playing in a hitter's park his entire career, but that doesnt bode well for Kazmir being able to put it back together there either.

Kazmir would be out of baseball by June if he had to pitch in that park

kazmir still good for 100 pitches a game, unfortunately he's usually through this many in the 4th inning.......

Young > Kazmir, and by a lot. Rangers would lose out on that trade. The Rangers would probably like to acquire another starter. Feldman and Webb (who knows what you're getting) are battling out for the 5th spot. With Kazmir at a 4.8+ ERA the last two full years, I'm not seeing any difference between him and Feldman.

The reason Texas would do this is that Young is running out of places to hide on the field. he was booted from 2B, SS, and now 3B due to poor defense.

Add in the fact that Texas can support a huge Payroll and Young is owed 48M over the next three and getting out of the deal with out paying some of that is an objective for them

While Kazmir hasn't been the same since the injuries, he still awfully young (27) and there is always the thought that he can salvage some usefulness. and worse case scenario is that hes basically owed 14.5 for this year (12+2.5 buyout) it gives texas some room next year.

There really is no market for young and while this deal may not improve Texas this year, it lets them position themselves in the future

Kazmir just may be the world's most over hyped pitcher ever.
Sure he can strike out hitters, but he's an on base machine, who averages over 13 base runners per nine for his career.
He's never had a season where his ratio was under 1.25.
He's like this decades version of Dontrelle Willis.

Young is 34, not exactly a spring chicken. he is owed a ton of money. if the Angels take this on, they will be doing Texas a monster favor. Kazmir has never won more than 13 games in his career. he had 1 year of over 174 Ks. that being said.. hes a Texas kid, and perhaps Nolan Ryan and crew can turn this kid around.. he is still just 27
