    Sunday Night: Atlanta at Washington
The REAL season starts. Hudson vs O. Perez.

Right away obviously you have to like Atlanta as road favourite. Hudson 4-0 with a miniscule ERA against the Senators last year. 3-0 in April last year, not so good in 2006. Of course 2 of those games were at spacious RFK. The new park is alot more hitter friendly.
Perez doesnt fire anyone much. The long and middle relief corp dont inspire much confidence, although Cordero is pretty solid.

Havent made up my mind-new stadium opening, Senators may be full of piss and vinegar and steal this opener. I am checking out the ML assuming the Senators might be a home dog I may play them.

    Your thoughts gentlemen?

          from the braves website...

          Scouting Report:
Braves: Hudson will be making his fifth Opening Day assignment and looking to continue his career-long dominance against the Nationals franchise. In eight starts against the club dating back to Montreal, he's gone 5-1 with a 1.09 ERA.

I'm on the braves as long as I get a good deal...

anyone know more about perez? How good is this guy?

He had a 5.57 ERA in 26 starts last year so why is he the nationals ace? lol...

I think the public will be on the braves big so I would hop on the ML early.

What are the new ballparks demensions? I heard it will easier to hit in compared to RFK, but I also heard it won't be a launching pad.

I really like Atlanta in this one here. I look for Atl to win this one. I have looked over some stats and find Perez 2-3 against ATL but the two wins were in his first two years in the league with the Dodgers and since coming back to the NL he is 0-3 and on the other side of the mound you have Hudson who is 5-2 lifetime against the Nat's and 2-0 when in Washington to face the NAT's, and in his two starts in Wash. he has pitched 16 innings giving up only 1 run (earned) while his K/BB is 5-1 with the rest of his outs coming in large part to the groundball (30) while only yielding 11 flyball outs. As for the O/U well I am unsure as both games Hudson pitched in Wash. were under 9 (3-0,6-2).

I don't think the value is there for an Atlanta bet, especially as Washington should be psyched for the new stadium. I would consider the over 8.5 however, given Perez's sketchy history.

I am kinda liking the Washington RL +1.5 but I wont make my pick until tomorrow afternoon.
Washington should be excited but might have the jitters. Perez is totally unreliable. Hudson has dominated the Senators. Atlanta has a plus bullpen but that ML isnt worth it, not on an opening game.
I also like the over with Perez starting and Washingtons ho-hum bullpen. Leans only of course.

Atlanta -1.5 on the run line. I think this is a safe bet being on the road. Atlanta will score runs not only against Perez but also the Nat's bullpen. Atlanta will build a lead and easily win.

Im a huge Mets fan and hate 2 say this, but I do like Braves and Hudson in this 1, despite new stadium.
Braves r good team and Hudson is helluva good pitcher.
                                They win this

Washington was a great money dog last year and it makes sense to take money dogs. I know that laying wood is not smart in baseball. I am going with the braves on the moneyline at -175 and the run line -105. Later on this season I will be putting money on Washington as an underdog. They may not be as a good spoiler as they were last season. THey will lose more games this season than last.

-160 seems a little steep for hudson. but i like braves here.

I think I will take Wash -2.5 on 5dimes. +475. They should be pumped opening their new stadium.
