    Opening Day Stats Anyone?
I was wondering if anyone knew what the stats were like for the Home team on their own opening day? Do they have any edge over the past years?

No problem diogee. I use it about 25,000 times a season.

          Since 1997 (11 seasons)...

Home favorites playing their 1st home game are 143-107 (57.2%). You would have lost about 18 units if you'd take them blindly (that's around -1.6 units per season on average). You'd make about 7 units if you took the visiting underdogs in those games.

Home underdogs playing their 1st home game are 38-38. That's about 11 units of profit, 1 unit per season on average. I also separated these into home&season openers and home&NOTseason openers, and got 8 units on home&season openers, and 3 units on home&NOTseason openers. So it's probably better to bet on home and season openers of underdogs. Keep in mind it's still very small profit and most likely not every year will be profitable.

For a bigger profit, I found that betting blindly all visiting underdogs the first 14 days of the season except the first 2 days (don't bet them the first 2 days of the season) would make you about 88 units. Here is per season data:

          97: 13.4
          98: -27.5
          99: 11.9
          00: 4.8
          01: 21.2
          02: 8.9
          03: 9.3
          04: 11.7
          05: 10.8
          06: 19.7
          07: 4

It's still not 100%, but looks pretty good anyway.
