    Curt Schilling Sucks
Looks like Mr. Bloody Sock got off on the wrong foot (pun intended) tonight against Tampa Bay. 2 innings, 7 hits, and 5 earned runs!

His fastball has become straight as an arrow. His offspeed stuff is mediocre at best. He and Randy Johnson are shadows of their former selves.

The only reason for the harshness is that its coming from a Yankee fan hoping that Schilling's problems will allow the Yanks win the AL East!

Yeah - he's pitching against the Devil Rays, hence the timing of the OP. Gave up 5 runs in the first 2 innings (managed to pitch the next 4 runless, though).

Reports say Curt does have the velocity though still just like Randy so it might not be as bad as it looks

The problem isn't velocity, the problem is movement. Any major league hitter worth his salt can hit a 100 MPH fastball if its straight. Johnson's fastball used to have a tail to it, but that has diminished as he's gotten older. Schilling's fastball used to have cut, but that's changed for him as well. The reason Clemens fastball is so tough is because it actually rises. He puts so much revolution on the baseball that he can get his fastball to rise. He's one of the only pitchers that can accomplish the feat.

Senator with veleoicty that movement can come back eventually and he can become very effective again
