    Yankees @ Reds

I can't believe I'm making a play against my own team, but f*ck it, it's the spring, I like it a lot, and this is about money. The Yankees haven't won @/or against Cincinnati since the spring of 2004. I'm aware Wang will be pitching tomorrow against Harang, but keep in mind starters only go 2-3 innings at max. Sinker ball pitchers usually struggle with keeping the ball low early in the year, and it wouldn't suprise me if Wang costs the Yankees at least a couple of runs. Also, the Yankees are coming off a loss, and are never a good pick in that spot this early in the year. They tend to be a very streaky team, one way or the other. On top of it, even though I don't have a lineup card for either team yet, I don't believe many regulars will be making the trip since a lot of them started today. Matsui will be out due to injury regardless. I also expect most of the Reds starters to be in for the first 5-6 innings as home teams normally tend to start their regular season starters on home games, and away teams tend to leave guys at home for extra rest, especially the veterans this early into spring training.

Another winner, nice pick today. I didn't get a chance to bet on the early games, but so far I'm liking my plays on the 2:00pm games.

            Friday, March 7th...

            Astros @ Yankees

Absolutely insane move on my part. Laying the big chalk, off back to back losses, playing against Houston who we haven't won against since 2006, in a spring game that "doesn't count". Why am I so confident the Yankees will win? Andy Pettite, in his first game back, will have way more to prove on the mound then Shawn Chacon who had difficulty in the Bronx shutting down the likes of the Orioles and Devil Rays. Chacon will get rocked tomorrow by the Yankees vets, including Jorge Posada, Shelley Duncan, Derek Jeter, and Alex Rodriguez, all of whom I expect to be in the lineup. The Steinbrenner brothers, and Brian Cashman should also be in attendance tomorrow at Legends Field in Tampa. Girardi has to impress in my opinion. My only worry is Mariano coughs up too many runs in his debut this spring. I was going to lay off this game seeing the -165 on the greek, but I saw -145 on matchbook and hit it.

            Yankees (-145) Risking $290 to win $200.

Well, hopefully the Yankees learned today at our expense that Steven White STILL is not reay for the big leagues.

It was more a play against the Dodgers and Chan Ho Park then a play for Baltimore. However, I did like the fact that the O's looked good on Sunday against the Marlins, and I liked the combination of Trachsel, Sherrill, and Bradford against the Dodgers. Trachsel was very good in his first start this spring, and came in prepared this year. I figured that was 4 strong innings, coming off a win, at home, against a traveling Dodgers team that had a 20 run win against the Cards, and a 4-0 shutout against the Red Sox and Dice-K where most of their starters started both games this weekend. I was seeing this game against the O's as a road game where they would be bringing a limited squad. I was wrong with both thinking that the Dodgers would be unprepared and get caught with their pants down, and also thinking that Trachsel and even the Orioles as a whole, would have 2 good games in a row. The O's made it 4-4 in the 7th, but Leiceister gave up 3 runs in the 8th to basically end the game. Hopefully you didn't waste your money on it. Looking forward to tonight.

I honestly feel confident about every game I picked up there. I had a bad few days, and I'm trying to get a little run started. Out of those 4 though, the one I'm the most worried/skeptical about, is the Padres. Best of luck.

Another fun day. A tie in the bottom of the 10th for a push with Tampa. San Diego loads the bases in the top of the 9th of a 2-2 tie, leaves all 3 on, then the Cubs load the bases in the bottom of the 9th, to win by a single. The Mets after leading most of the afternoon, lose the game in the bottom of the 10th to the Cardinals. Can't wait for real baseball. Regardless of what happens with Cinci, still a losing day.

Took a break for a little while because I was honestly frustrated with Spring Training, and was in need of a break. I focused on the NBA this weekend and the Big East Tournament, which were both successful. I will definitely be back with some winning MLB picks this week.
