If the Giants are going to win the series it'll be in game 6. I like the hedge if your series bet is for a significant sum (a significant percentage of your bankroll not just a lot of money). Sanchez has been awesome and he can neutralize the big lefties in the Phillies already struggling lineup. I still think the Phils pull it out though. BOL

I agree with you that if the Giants win, it will be game 6. Sanchez is filthy and no one can hit shit off of him, his only problem is his control. I have a bad price on the series cuz I wouldn't think that the giants would beat halladay in game one or beat oswalt in game 2, so I got it at -230. And yea I do have them for a significant percentage of my roll. I also have the Rangers for about half as much, and I'm thinking they close it out at home tomorrow

For your Phil/SF hedge, I think these are the options if you want to cut your losses right now:

1. Hedge game 6 SF ML (+150) - you'll want to take your series bet, divide it by 1.74, and put it on the SF ML. You'll sort of lock in a 9% loss of the total positions (the hedge + your original series bet); I am going off of your assumption that the Phillies will win a game 7.

2. Hedge with SF series win (1.55 in decimal odds according to Betfair) - you'll really be biting the bullet, but put a little bit less than your original bet on the Giants (about your bet divided by 1.08) winning the series. You'll lock in a 25% loss on your total positions (hedge + original bet), but should be significantly better than completely losing your series bet (cutting your losses in half I believe).

Personally, unless you direly need to protect against a total loss, I'd just let it ride...

I'm a life long phillies fan and I don't see them winning the last two. Let's face it they should have lost night- that was a terrible call that went their way. Fwiw if you hit the rangers series tonight I personally would hedge the phils but don't listen to any of us it's your cash.

Hmm some pretty good options here. I live in the Bay Area and saw in the paper today that the Giants have done this before and lost both situations in the past (losing games 6 and 7 when up twice) and Will Clark was pissed when the reporter or w/e was asking him about it last night

. I'm still on the edge tonight, and I'll decide what to do after tonights Rangers/Yanks game.

They could do it with relative ease. I am not so convinced the will though. One game at a time. If they get the win tomorrow I think Hamels can close it out. Tomorrow is the big game.

The best game pitched by a starter in this series was Matt Cain in game 3. If it goes to game 7 the Giants will be in good hands pitchingwise. But you never know who will step up and be a hero. Neither team is bashing the ball so one big hit in either game 6 or 7 will decide it. No matter which team gets that hit it's a safe bet it won't be Ryan Howard. When was the last clutch hit he had in a postseason game? If I'm a Giants fan the last guy I want at to face for Philly with the game on the line is Polanco.
