Pitchers projected to have eras under 4.00 (PECOTA)
Baseball Prospectus' PECOTA projections are now available for subscribers. Let's take a look at some starters who they project to have an ERA under 4.00 in 2008.

Joba Chamberlain - 3.39 ERA, 1.24 WHIP in 145.7 innings. This is probably as aggressive a Joba projection as you'll find.

Tim Lincecum - 3.58 ERA, 1.27 WHIP in 140.7 innings. No one seems to think this kid can get to 180 innings besides me.

Josh Johnson - 3.77 ERA, 1.39 WHIP in 93.7 innings. Johnson might miss the entire 2008 season due to August Tommy John. This projection is what's wrong with a 100% automated projection system.

Yovani Gallardo - 3.88 ERA, 1.32 WHIP in 175.3 innings. The ratios are identical to my predictions from January 19th. The coincidence makes me feel a bit better.

Chad Billingsley - 3.96 ERA, 1.38 WHIP in 142.7 innings. Another one that's very similar to my own.

Felix Hernandez - 3.97 ERA, 1.37 WHIP in 177 innings. I am going with a 3.76 ERA and 1.29 WHIP on this one.

Interesting players who just missed the 4.00 cut: Rich Hill, Shawn Hill, Justin Germano, Carlos Marmol, Kelvim Escobar, Ian Snell, Clay Buchholz, Hiroki Kuroda, Fausto Carmona

I had him in my fantasy baseball league last year. He's going to be good.

I really like Carmona to have an under 4.00 era. Cant believe he didnt make the list. Im not too sure on Gallardo. I think his era might creep just over 4.00
