Uh, whaaaa? didn't they miss the playoffs in 09? didnt they lose the WS in 08?... to a team that is very likely going to win their third consecutive NL Pennant? Aren't they in second place?

I would argue that a NL team is better:
Phils lead the majors in BA for the month of September. They are 14-3 in the month. Halladay is gonna be NL Cy Young winner (leads in W, IP, K, second in ERA), Hamels has allowed 1 earned in 35+ and is second in baseball in ERA since the break (<2.00), and Oswalt is 6-1 as a Phil, leads the NL in WHIP and has the best ERA in the majors over the last 6 weeks. and, oh ya, Joe Blanton hasn't gotten a loss since mid-july.
IF the trick is completed, the Phillies will be the first team since the '44 Cards to win 3 consecutive NL Pennants. Sure, the Big Red Machine won back-to-back titles, and the Phils fell short there in 09, but 2 of three aint bad... (long way to go, sure.)
Anyway, pay attention to what the Phils are up to.
