    Bet Votto for NL MVP
I haven't looked around for odds on different sites, but Joey Votto is currently -110 to win the NL MVP on Sportsbook.com (I know this site has a low rating, so you can look for it elsewhere), with Pujols at even odds to win. I'm not in the business of making guarantees, however, this is a terrible line (and this coming from a Cardinals fan).

They both are having outstanding seasons and making a run at the Triple Crown. And in my opinion, winning the Triple Crown is Pujols' only chance at the MVP. Currently, Votto has better overall numbers (Votto ranks 3rd in homers, 1st in RBIs, 1st in batting average, 1st in OBP, 1st in slugging, 1st in OPS) than Pujols, and Votto is leading a surging Reds team (playing the cinderella role, which certainly won't hurt his chances) that is a lock to win the NL Central.

Contrast this with Pujols, who is the leader on a Cardinals team that is collapsing in dramatic fashion. The only other way Pujols would have a shot at the MVP would be if the Cardinals were to win the NL wildcard (which, in case you haven't been following the Cardinals like I have, is NOT happening). You can argue about whether a player's team's standings should impact the MVP award, but we all know that it does affect many of the voters.

While I stated there are never any guarantees in the world of sportsbetting, I think this one is about as close as they come. Let me know what you guys think...

I like your thinking, and I agree with everything that you said.

If Pujols was on the best team in the league, then I'd give it to him, but since they are not....Gotta give it to Votto

Looks good! Votto is definitely pulling this in.

What are the odds at other books for MVP?

Not a lock but even with people fighting for the award how does Votto not win. Should be -200 atleast.

He should finish in top 3 for the MVP vote.

Why would you bet Votto when you could get Hamilton at -150?

I don't really follow the AL that closely, so I didn't even look at the AL odds. Good tip though. I think they are both terrible lines, with the Hamilton line being even worse.

And to the guy that said Votto will finish in the top-3, you might as well have told me the sun will rise tomorrow.

There is no doubt Votto should win the MVP. He is the huge reason why the Reds should win the division and then some.

took a fan vote to get who should be the NL MVP into the all star game, how's that happen?! lets say joey votto didn't get into the all star game & won the MVP...how many times has that happened before where a player didn't make his league's all star team but ended up being MVP of his league?

There is a month left of baseball here. Votto's and Pujols stats are pretty close across the board. The advantage goes to Votto right now, but with so much time left I'll take even money on a guy that's played >140 games a year 10 straight with consistency.

I know this is a pro-Votto thread, I'm not doggin him, just sayin there's a lot of time left for -400.

shame on you stlcardinals. Pujols wins everything and the cardinals make the playoffs. Wainwright wins the cy and garcia rookie of the year... not to mention the world series.
