    Twins Blog for 8/31
Coming off a win on my last blog with the Rangers RL last night, I know everybody will be on the Twins in this game but I just can't see them losing this one.

The Minnesota Twins will begin a 3 game set against the Detroit Tigers Tuesday night in Minnesota. The Twins are looking to hold onto first place in the AL Central, while the Tigers pretty much have no chance of making the playoffs this year. Injuries have all but derailed the Tigers' chances, with key players in their lineup getting hurt. The Twins are coming a mediocre road trip in which they went 3-4 in Texas and Seattle. They can't wait to get back home, where they are a great home team, going 40-22 this year. The Twins are currently listed as -200 ML favorites, +105 RL underdogs, and -131 favorites with a -1 spread. This -1 spread is the play in this game in my opinion, as the Twins should take this game.

Brian Duensing has been a surprisingly productive pitcher this year for the Twins. His season ERA is very good, sitting at 2.19 for this year with a 7-2 record and 1.04 WHIP. Duensing has been almost unhittable at home this year, with his ERA dropping to a disgusting 1.36 this year. His home record is 4-1 and he doesn't allow many baserunners at all, with a 0.88 WHIP. Duensing's numbers are low in part because he has come out of the bullpen earlier in the year, but he has been just as good when starting of late. I don't see the Tigers' battered lineup being able to get too many runs off Duensing tonight.

Armando Galarraga gets the start for the Detroit Tigers tonight in Minnesota. Galarraga has been an effective pitcher in spots, but most of his good starts have come at home this year. He just doesn't pitch as well on the road, and his numbers reflect it. His overall ERA stands at 4.04 on the year (6.44 ERA on the road), while his record is 4-5 (1-2 record on the road). Opponents hit Galarraga hard on the road, with his overall season batting average against at .257, and his road batting average against being .325 this year, a huge difference. Galarraga already pitched in Minnesota earlier in the year, getting pounded for 6 earned runs on 7 hits and 2 walks, while only pitching 4 innings. I expect more of this to continue tonight in Minnesota.

The Twins haven't been playing their best baseball, but coming home to Minnesota should spark the offense a bit as they play better at home. They face a pitcher they have hit pretty good against already this year and their starter is a strong one at home as well. They should be able to get out to an early lead and not look back in this game. I expect them to win by multiple runs tonight, but they should at the very least get the win. Take the Twins tonight with the -1 spread over the Tigers in Minnesota.

          According to those Stats below:

          DET: Galarraga (4-5, 4.04)
          MIN: Duensing (7-2, 2.19)

I would tend to bet on Minnesota Twins RL
