Actually, before he busted his leg last year there were many, including John Dewan who wrote The Fielding Bible, who would tell you that Adam Everett was the premier shortstop in the game in terms of defense alone.

I realize you need to be 'strong up the middle,' an age-old baseball cliché that actually has real meaning. If my choices are Reyes and Everett, then I'm taking Reyes because of his superior offensive talents to Everett. But between Reyes and Ramirez, I don't think the gap on defense is as wide as many would have some of us believe.

Yeah everett is very good... I think Reyes range and arm is what takes him to the top. Both of these guys are still only 23 or 24 years old which is the amazing part about this... They arnt even in their prime yet its kinda scary.

It's not that Reyes isn't getting any love. He's a terriffic player, but you asked who was better, and Hanley's clearly the superior player.

I'm not speaking for Thremp, but I'd agree with him on this. J-Roll wasn't even the most valuable player on his own team (Utley), let alone the league.

Exactly! Let's hope we're still debating this 5-10 years from now since it means we will have seen two amazing ballplayers all those years. I believe they both turned 24 last year with Ramirez six months or so younger. Should be fun.

Utley was hurt for a while. Rollins definitely deserved MVP if you ask me

I'm aware. His absence obviously affected his numbers and hurt his MVP chances, but it doesn't make him any less valuable.

Listen i attended well over 30 games in philly this year and J Roll was the sole reason this team made the playoffs.

                139 Runs, 28 2B, 20 3B, 30 HR, 94 RBI, 41 SB, .296 BA , .344 OBP, .531 SLG, 380 TB,

ALSO DID NOT MISS A GAME ALL YEAR!

                  Louis,

You won't get into it because you are incorrect and I will pozz you like a Thai hookers who's been sharing needles with Amy Winehouse. JRoll was a terrible choice.

Also, he stood up at the beginning of the year and said they were the team to beat in the NL EAST. And they he backed it up with one of the most productive years a SS has ever had all around in MLB history.

The difference between Everett and anyone else anywhere in the field. Is almost the same from the 2nd best SS to the worst.

If you said Everett was better than Ozzie, I'd hear you out. And you'd likely be correct (or very marginally wrong like Hornsby > Morgan).

His season is no where even close to the best ever. Cal Ripken pre 92 pwns him like every other year. Wagner wouldn't let Rollins fellate him if Rollins paid to do this.

Rollins last season would've been Jeter's 4th best by WARP3. It would be tied with A-rod's 7th worst season by WARP3 as well.

                        You're humiliating yourself. Pls stop.

Adam Everett better than Ozzie Smith?

That's a pretty ridiculous reason to give him the MVP. And the Phils didn't WIN the division as much as the Mets LOST it.

Holliday, Utley and Hanley were all more deserving of the award than J-Roll.

Utley was MVP in the playoffs also. What was he 0-4 with 3k every game? Rollins had a better season than utley last year, no doubt.
