Great value in this spot here, and they have won 5 of 6 on this road trip already.

There has been great value on the Reds all year. Volquez is the one pitcher that has been the least consistent since his return from injury. He has incredible off speed pitches and his fastball is ++. Unfortunately, he has struggled with his command.

I have been preaching for awhile now that he has top of the rotation 'stuff', he is just not efficient with his pitches and walks too many batters, limiting his innings pitched. I would have no problem taking him at +odds, but don't be surprised if he does't make it out of the 6th inning.

SF is 14-6 in Game 1's after losing it's previous game.. This more than any other situation they get themselves into is where they perform at their best.. At home Cain has a 2.62 ERA in 12 games giving up 24 ER over 82 innings.. Away Volquez has a 6 ERA in 3 games giving up 10 ER in 15 IP.. Cain's team record in home games is 8-4 while Volquez's team record in his away game is 3-0..The reds have the hitting edge scoring a little over 5 runs in this situation on the year (after a win/and away) vs the Giants are just over 4 runs (after loss/at home).. Neither pitcher has been pitching well recently but this seems like the perfect situation for Cain to get back on track.. Not anywhere close to a best bet in my opinion but what do I know =).. Good luck with whatever you choose

Volquez is erratic. He will either walk 6 batters, or strikeout 9.

He will be better next year, but right now he is just a good OVer the total bet, b/c he will always have RISP.
