Lou pinella retiring after today's game against the Braves
Enjoy the rest, Lou. Your heart just isn't in it anymore. There were multiple occasions this year where the Cubbies needed that patented Sweet Lou kick in the pants...... but you just couldn't generate the energy and passion anymore. Best of luck. Enjoy your retirement, you were one of my favorite characters.

He should have resigned after those great decisions he made in the playoffs a few years back.

Lou can't take it anymore. Sitting through a Cubs game is painful.

I've been fading the cubs for some time now... at least 20 wins in the last month fading them. This is only going to make it better.

That horrific Cubs team finally drove the poor guy into retirement. Can't believe he lasted that long with that bunch of losers!

single handedly took us from worst to first in 2007 and manager of the year in 2008 for a ballclub that scored the most runs in the NL. if thats what you call ruining then i guess your right.

We will miss you sweet Lou!!

damn, what a shitty way to go out, no one playing with emotion.

to be fair though the cubs have looked worse this season.

I admire him for going to take care of his mother. That is a real man right there. And a couple of years from now he will look back and know he made the right decision.

if the cubs were in the middle of a pennant race, would he have quit midseason like this to care for his mother?

Without looking up records, etc, I think he had one of the top careers (maybe top) when you consider what he did as a player and manager overall. He should look back with pride and enjoy retirement.
