I like Jays team total under 3. If it has to be a side play I like the A's.

the jays are in a very tough situation to score runs. Brett anderson has nasty stuff, and disects right handed hitters. Toronto has trouble against lefties with good off speed stuff, and they score 1 less run on the road than at home, some players just perform better in their home park, in familiar surroundings. fading toronto when they face a elite lefty has made me good money this season. its going to come down to the bullpens in this game

Here's what I wrote in the Bob Loblaw Law Blog

                            Blue Jays Under 3 +105

August 16, 2010 by Bob Loblaw
I don't want to try and figure out how the A's will hit Shawn Marcum so I'm going to make a team total play. Blue Jays Under 3 at +105. I was hoping for 3.5 but I'll take the plus money at 3. The Blue Jays are an awful hitting team vs left handers. They come in with a .216 batting average vs southpaws and that is good for dead last in all of baseball. Dead last is bad enough but this team is dead last by far as the next worst team (the sorry pirates) come in at .243. Brett Anderson takes the mound for the A's and he is back to his early season form after missing two months on the DL. He's made 3 starts since coming off the DL and after an intial rough first start vs the red hot White Sox he's given up just 3 runs in his last 2 starts spanning 14 innings pitched. A few things I like about the Anderson vs. Jays matchup. As mentioned, the Jays just don't hit left handers at all coming in with a .216 average. At home, Anderson's opponents are hitting just .198 vs him, So don't expect a lot of hits for the Jays tonight. When the Jays do score it usually comes from the homerun and double. The Jays are the #1 homerun hitting team in all of baseball and #3 in doubles. According to ESPN's park factors, the Oakland Coliseum ranks #28 out of 30 in homeruns. So it will be hard enough for this homerun hitting offense to get it out of this park but add to the fact that Brett Anderson has yet to allow a single homerun all year in 50 innings pitched and the odds are stacked against them. He's also only allowed just 10 doubles and 7 walks over 9 starts. So when Anderson has runs scored on him he's usually getting singled to death. The Blue Jays are the last team in all of baseball that I'd expect to single a left handed pitcher to death, and especially Anderson at home. On another note, the Blue Jays have only seen one left handed starting pitcher over their last 25 games. That was Scott Kazmir a few nights ago where they ended the game with 3 runs scored. So this is a bad hitting team vs left handers as it is and now they are not used to seeing left handers for the majority of the game. Hopefully a little rust factor kicks in. The only Blue Jay that may be in the starting lineup tonight to have faced Anderson in the past is Jose Molina. He comes in at 0-3 vs Anderson. Another advantage to Anderson as the Blue Jays aren't familiar with what he brings to the mound. I look for Anderson to go at least 7 strong and then turn it over to a decent bullpen where hopefully they can hold their own. We all know the rollercoaster rides bullpens can bring to the game. I believe Brett Anderson picking up his second career complete game is a possibilty tonight. I don't expect a lot of baserunners so that pitch count should stay down allowing him to go deep. Oakland A's 3, Toronto Blue Jays 1

just 1 point, not much, but just showing my gratitude for digging up some info i didnt have, like the park factor, it just solidified my under bet a little more and put down 2 units on it. I cudnt put faith in the A's bats, i knew marcum was looking toward a comeback game.

thanks, it made up for a otherwise losing day (astros 1x, rangers .75x , orioles 1x)

If I felt as strong about this under as I did about a side bet I would put down 4-6 units on it, but i always limit myself on total bets, too difficult to predict....close enough prediction, marcum got a complete game, and the score was 3-1, but for the jays.
