Pretty much ends his career sadly. I say that as a Braves fan. He's talked all off season and this year about closing out...think the baseball gods may have helped him do it quicker than expected. Thanks for the memories Larry Wayne!!

It's a shame. He was starting to come around and be a productive player again for Atlanta. The play he hurt himslef on looked more like a 25 yr old than a 38 yr old. I doubt seriously he ever plays again due to his age and considering the rehab time and last but not least his manager is retiring. Guys like CJ don't come back through all that at this age to play for "another" manager. Bobbie Cox is all he knows. More importantly he doesn't need the money. Guy has lived well within his means. Made superstar money for may years but didn't live the lifestyle that goes with it.

Should of retired. Enough about him what does this do to the Braves and that 3rd base position?

Just awful, knew as soon as it happened that it was probably it for him. Was just starting to feel optimistic about his return and then next thing I know he's done. Sick to my stomach right now, thanks for the memories Chip, I'll see ya in Cooperstown soon.

How do you figure? And I say let Brooksy/Hinske play third 'til Prado comes back and we can move Omar over to third.

He was pretty arrogant in his early years....but backed it up in the long run. I've been a Braves fan forever and remember all of the negativity against him....especially if you're a Mets fan

He's kind of a dick for naming his kid Shea, but Mets fans respected him

Too bad for him. He could have helped the Braves down the stretch.
