Venters is the best non closing relief pitcher in baseball. He throws a 95-97 MPH sinker with consistent 7-8 inch break on it. I've never seen numbers that good for a sinker. He is very accurate too.

Braves bullpen is going to carry them to the playoffs, and on to a WS victory.

EDIT: Wagner may have something to say about the Braves chances to get to playoffs. He is starting to crumble. Let Venters pitch 2 innings and game is over.

That and having 6 more home games than road games remaining. Would be nice if Wagner could get back to his old self though...

Well to be fair, Wagner has been victim of some horrible defense in 9th inning by the Braves. But he is also getting hit a lot harder than usual.

We traded Escobar for Gonzalez because Gonzalez was supposedly more solid on defense. Keep in mind that Escobar has almost unlimited potential just a little flashy. So since the trade, I think Gonzalez has lost 3 games by himself because of errors. The errors directly led to the losses. It may even be more than 3.

rm18 its close, the bullpens of Atlanta and San Diego. The park and lack of humidity in San Diego makes a big difference in the numbers too.

Not so clear cut though. Not sure how much it may have changed in the last two weeks or so, but while we were playing them, we were 45-1 while leading after 7 innings, and they were somewhere along the lines of like 41-3. Their ERA was about .20 lower, but it's still very close between the two.

I wouldn't quite say he's lost three games by himself. Maybe you could say he's lost one, but on the other hand you could very easily say he's won one or two with both his bat and defense. It's strange though, he'll make an incredibly hard play look easy, and then next thing you know he'll botch a routine grounder to him.

Yeah, Gonzo has been frustrating the shit out of me lately. He will get through this rough patch but I agree with Wileout, he has lost at least 2 games because of his errors. Wagner will get his stuff back.....I think people are just waiting on that fastball to go right over the plate though.

I also think if we don't start really hitting and moving runners (It seems like the braves mostly just score off of home runs now), the Phillies are going to blow right past us when they get healthy. We need to extend our lead now while they are still hurt.

wow I hope nobody here had the under today, that would be brutal. Glad for the win though, now Phillies need to start a losing streak!

southmade keep in mind that we are waiting for Prado to come back too. I would love to see Prado and Infante at the top of the order. Bench Gonzo.

I agree with you MVP, and Atlanta sports fans in general are very used to being let down by our teams.

Braves will win the WS this year. You only need 4 starters in the playoffs and 3 relievers.
